Hope everyone has a wonderful Valentine Day with loved ones.

I like to celebrate V Day with my beloved –
I go to the hangar with a nice red wine bottle,
I aerate and pour using a clean oil fill funnel
- then I sip and caress the sleek curves of her propeller.

Then I move gently to her sinuous cowling

A few sips the wanders down to caress her beautiful laminar flow wing leading edge. First the left wing but not ignoring the right wing also.

Yes we're building up to her lovely tapered cruciform tail junction with its tight forms.

Gazing at the beloved beauty as the moonlight floods in through the open doors is a treat that warms my heart in winter.

Alas the cruel winds of winter render us East coast romantic pilots in need of serious engine heat to start with teens here in SE VA to - single digits in MA.

So please tell us how the rest of you out there are doing for V day flights.

Re: Valentine Day flights

Sid,
I hope you chose a high tannin red ala a Tempranillo or Malbec to mask the 100+ flavor.
Regardless of the temps, after 35 years of marriage an application of pre-heat is always called for. -8f this morning ain't helping either.

Re: Valentine Day flights

I have noted that for me a poem by Robert Burns or similar provides all the pre-heat needed for V Day!

here's one for you romantic pilots:

“My love is like a red, red rose
That's newly sprung in June:
My love is like the melody
That's sweetly played in tune.

How fair art thou, my bonnie lass,
So deep in love am I;
And I will love thee still, my dear,
Till all the seas gang dry.

Till all the seas gang dry, my dear,
And the rocks melt with the sun;
I will love thee still, my dear,
While the sands of life shall run.

And fare thee weel, my only love.
And fare thee weel awhile!
And I will come again, my love,
Though it were ten thousand mile.”

― Robert Burns a Humble born Scottish poet late 1700s

LOL Thanks fore the wine steer Bill nice suggestion.

Re: Valentine Day flights

The Frigid Temps have surely gotten to Sid today. At 5:53 AM I told him Taffel Airlines flights cancelled due to -2deg and previous turbo housing cracking incident (1994) in similar conditions. My Valentine Gift to N112HT today is NOT subjecting either of us to the wind chill of 150 mph!

and you know Bill ... if she is really iced up, no amount of pre-heat will do it. Better to get to a nice warm hangar and let her sit for a few days.

Re: Valentine Day flights

Scott I wonder if you pour some liquid viagra in the oil would it start up easier?

Re: Valentine Day flights

For God's sakes, Sid ... we are trying to loosen her up and get her to f l o w... not seize her up! You are going completely the wrong direction here!

p.s. interesting you have discovered Viagra in liquid form ... never heard of it. What's next for you, Cialis as a main-line injection?
