I thought that it might be a good idea to try to organise a get together this year.
So if you are interested then let the group know on here.
I have no pre-conceived idea on location or timing so suggestions are welcome.
The last time we tried this, we had little luck with the weather so not many made it.
It would be nice to get more to the destination this time.

If any other European owners would like to join us then they will be more than welcome.
Let me know your thoughts.

Re: UK Commander Get together

Me too! I can probably twist N115MD's arm too.

Easy on location or timing.

So we have David in Liverpool and Keith I assume you are still in Jersey.
We need somewhere around midway, I was thinking of maybe Dunkeswell (EGTU) or
Kemble (EGBP) unless others want to join us which might mean we have to re-think.

Idea's and suggestions welcome.

Re: UK Commander Get together

Hi John,

I'd like to join too, but not sure whether G-BFPO will be sorted by then.
I had a prop strike.
When do you plan this to happen?

Hello John

You can count me in, Kemble sounds good, they've got the AV8 cafe / restaurant and the vintage jets hangar.

John

I've just heard about the Cessna 310 incident at North Weald, a fire on start-up I believe, I'm told the guy is badly burned.

Re: UK Commander Get together

Markus,
Sorry to hear about your prop strike, was there much damage?
More than happy for all to join in, no date set yet so let hope you get your plane repaired soon.

Steven,
I will add you to the list, perhaps you can taxi round to where we are parked :D.

Fred,
You are already included.
I have not been over to the airfield since Christmas and this is the first I have heard about the 310.
I will try to get more information today.
I hope the guy will be OK.

Re: UK Commander Get together

Fred,
Update on the fire at North Weald from a friend of mine.

The fire was not yesterday, it was at 19.10 Monday evening, it was the Cessna 421B parked just off the perri track opposite where the model flying takes place.
David Green thought he had been the victim of fuel theft and had been syphoning fuel out of the aircraft, it's not known how much or into what,
but it seems that had splashed his clothes with fuel.

After taking his son, (and presumably the offloaded fuel) home his son advised him that he had left some video/console games in the plane,
David returned at around 7pm entered the plane and proceeded to look for the games,
(here's the gruesome /stupid part) he had no torch, so he lit his lighter to help see,
seems the vapour on his cloths ignited and the interior of the aircraft became engulfed in flames, if not for a rabbit shooter who was nearby,
(he pulled him out and removed the clothing that was on fire) he would likely be dead !! as it is he has 90% burns and underwent 7 hours of surgery yesterday.

This is really sad as David sounds like a really nice guy.

We're now back in the UK and based at Fairoaks. As mentioned, I think we can safely add Nigel Southern and N115MD - also based at Fairoaks. I'd be surprised if the Colonel didn't turn up too in his Super Commander!

What is Mike's Reg. Number Keith?
I will add Nigel to the list as well.
