The Unexpected Drop of MP at 12K Ft

Yes that is me - a bunch cleaner these day's with the new carb, but you are right on about the orientation of the cables being so that the movement is in a straight line.
Have seen a number assembled incorrectly.
Did not catch that on his photo's.

Ok. So this prompted some questions.

Attached is the service bulletin from Lycoming on proper rigging of the wastegate cable. Since Lycoming considers the throttle cable part of the airframe, the IPC is also attached so you can see both. For what I see, the wastegate goes on the outside with a castle nut and the throttle goes on the inside with a self locking nut. Since I can't tell which is which from the photograph of Joel's, I am going to assume that is his setup.

I am finally picking up the plane tomorrow. Once I have the cable I will take some more pics and post.

Is anyone adding "Fire Sleeve" over the wastegate cable?

If I recall correctly, throttle cable is the bottom one by the idle screw. That being the case this photo has the nuts reversed. The castle nut goes on the wastgate cable and the self locking goes on the throttle cable. If I got the cables confused, please let me know.

The cable positioning in relation to the carburetor arm is what is .critical I don't think it really matters which set of nuts you have on which one

Here's a pic of the routing to the wastegate on mine that shows the firesleeve. I'm not sure I'm on the correct side of the motor mount here. I'm looking forward to examining a few others at the fly-in.... k
