Thank you to all!!!!!!!!!!

Judi, Allen, Jim P, Jim R, Neal plus others. Thank you.

Today 4742W has a new caretaker. Hopefully I will be flying her home to KFTG so she escapes the brutal humidity of Dallas and can bask in the fresh albeit thin air of Colorado.

It truly was a rodeo ride except it lasted much longer than 8 seconds. Lol. I appreciate everyone's thoughts and advice.

I have a solid platform to enjoy and build upon in the coming years. How scary and excitting.

I think I posting a pic. Not sure if this will work.

Congratulation Dean!

Ok, So I "think" the picture size was too large, so I've resized them and trying to attach.

From the people that I've interacted with from COG and even at the shop that did my pre-buy - I've thoroughly enjoyed meeting, listening and learning from everyone and look forward to more of it.

I've got several projects that I will have to pace out over time so expect to hear more from me!

Next step -- get my dual time and fly her back in the next few days

Re: The fun begins! New owner as of today

Looks great, congrats!

Re: The fun begins! New owner as of today

I always love airplanes with N numbers that end in "Whiskey." Congratulations.

Re: The fun begins! New owner as of today

it's about time, Dean. hope you mean S/N 14072, tho. S/N 14702 would be a 2002 115 and there isn't one here, or ever built to my knowledge.:D
Welcome to CommanderLand!

Re: The fun begins! New owner as of today

Congrats, sorry I probably set you back a day or so, when my fuel pump died over at Addison and I had to call Charles and Ken over to swap it out.

If there's a GA airport hell, it's Addison TX, man I hate that place. Perfect mix of Gulfstreams and students in 172s, those of us with light twins/high performance singles get lost in the mix.

If you need anything before you head out you got my cell number I think? Let me know.

As I mentioned yesterday in the shop...

1) CG tends to be a bit forward with just two people in the front and full fuel, get a 5 gallon gas can and fill it with water for the baggage compartment if you need to.

2) Careful in >15 knot direct crosswinds, it doesn't have as much rudder as a 182 or Cherokee because of the T tail. Less than that or quartering winds aren't bad.

3) Don't sit on the ground forever waiting on a VFR day with low winds and no turbulence, there's no such thing in north TX ;). It's a smooth riding airplane, it won't be as bad as other airplanes you've flown in the chop.

4) If you wind up doing your insurance time before leaving Dallas rather than on the way home, you can head east toward Lake Tawokoni, aim for T14 or Cash NDB (SYW/ch 428), that's far enough away from the inbound heavy/jet traffic arrival procedures to keep you away from constant traffic. T14 is a published private field, there's also 3 other grass strips around the lake if something goes awry.

Didn't all the Oklahoma Rockwell's end in Whiskey? k

Re: The fun begins! New owner as of today

I think all the 112's ended in W. They did not want Slo so they just used the last letter.

Well done Dean to get a bird which is the envy of most GA pilots. I trust the mile high atmosphere at your home base will be complemented now with the new species.

Best regards,

Pete

Actually, most of the earlier 112s were Juliets. Later builds became Whiskeys.

Re: The fun begins! New owner as of today

and then later 114As changed to Novembers.
Juliet drank Whiskey is November is all I could figure was the reasoning. lol

Enjoy your new ride, congrats

Whiskey is good, double whiskey even better. Welcome Dean!

Re: The fun begins! New owner as of today

Thanks for the well wishes and congrats. I know I have a lot to learn and it will be a series of major and minor projects. You will be hearing A LOT from me :-)

I made it back - a bit bumpy in the late afternoon day across OK and into CO. About Lamar CO I really really really - for real - realized the impact of the day/weather/altitude on my engine performance.

We made it to KFTG and I got her tucked in after a good day of flying!

Re: The fun begins! New owner as of today

Congrats Dean, I knew you'd find the right one with enough time..

Re: The fun begins! New owner as of today

Allen,

Thanks! I now keep thinking of excuses/reasons to head out to my hangar and I hate I am 20 miles away LOL

I am flying her locally to get more comfortable, looking at shorter XC's. Plus starting the savings account for Avionics and Paint. Both are going to be needed sooner rather than later, so have to focus! LOL

Thanks for all the time and the calls!

Dean
