The wake of horrible Manchester arena terror attack has shown the best of the British people from all walks of life, they urge each other to carry on as normal.

Last night poet Tony Walsh spoke for an entire city with his emotional ode to Manchester, This is the Place.

Then British humour (I’m using their spelling in sympathy with their loss) on their social media users respond to the Govt. raising the threat level.
The hashtag #BritishThreatLevels has some great ones:

We're British. You can't scare us until you raise the threat level to
"I'm sorry, but there's only continental breakfast left".

In sympathy with the people of Manchester.

Great post Sid.

I think Tony Walsh said it all.

Nothing else to say.

Bless 'em all

Re: Sympathies for our UK Commander comrades over Manchester

In the English language, it started with The Canterbury Tales turning social/class issues into such important questions as how to divide a fart between twelve monks, and wound up with a heroic epic in the Greek tradition of a particularly horny rooster. In conclusion, Chaucer apologized for writing the whole thing.

A couple of centuries later John Donne was writing late night cable TV porn-comedy when he wasn't at his day job as a priest, and Shakespeare took a break from comedic dismemberment in Titus Andronicus long enough to give us the first 'yo mama' joke...

William Shakespeare said:
CHIRON: Thou hast undone our mother.
AARON: Villain, I have done thy mother.

Add 300 more years, give or take, and the PBS station here in Dallas was the first to take a risk on Monty Python in the US.

The British have managed to hang on to the fact for the past 600 years that at the end of the day, life isn't very serious; laugh about it. A lot of people need to learn that lesson, but afaik John Cleese is still teaching it so maybe there's hope for them ;).

I see your Titus Andronicus and raise you a Tristan & Isolde.

It's tough sometimes to be educated and cultured among all of these COG slugs, isn't it?

(Craig ... don't beat me down ... not being negative ... it was a JOKE! I mean, for God's sakes, I am from southern Indiana and Neal is from McKinney, TX. So obviously I was kidding about that culture and education stuff! No Oklahoma, that's for sure!)

Albert Camus told me it'd probably be alright, just keep pushing the rock.

The funny thing is there's such a glut of humanities professors that you can go to lectures from people that went to elite private schools IN McKinney, Texas. Then again two of the better professors I know from the literature department in that school got their PhD's from... Indiana.

I know Scott, your lips were moving. So just so I can categorize myself correctly, am I a slug, the "beat down king" or both? I do have a reputation to uphold you know. :D

I know Scott, your "Lips were Moving".

Craig has this Thing about "Lips Moving". He said something last week about I only Fib when My "Lips are moving", Prior to that several weeks back he made mention about someones "Lips Moving". Then as you all see in the Quote above he has made a statement about Scott's "Lips Moving"

Craig You have me a little worried being Hung up on "LIP MOVEMENT", What's Up with That?

Re: Sympathies for our UK Commander comrades over Manchester

It takes at least one fibber (read story stretcher/teller) and one joker to make an interesting group. I wouldn't get all excited about the "lips" because in reality it's just a bunch of key strokes and hype. I do appreciate you calling me out on it though.
