Sun-N-Fun was a blast both times I went, despite the tornado that struck the time I rented a camper instead of flying in. It's a well-run event, and probably about the size that OSH was 20-30 years ago... Plan to spend some time down in the Ultralight / Light Sport area to watch those guys fly - it's very entertaining.
First observation: Avoid the FBO ramp like the plague that it is... The guy who parked next to me flew a Remos LSA to the fly-in, and went directly to the FBO for gas. They charged him a ridiculous ramp fee (something like $50), which would only be waived if he bought about 3X as much fuel as his airplane would hold in total. So his 10-12 gallons of fuel wound up costing him almost a hundred bucks! Later, he saw the fuel truck coming up to airplanes that were tied down (fuel was the same price as at the FBO), and realized he could have just done that... The fuel truck will also bring your preferred oil to you, if you ask for that when you request the fuel. (But it's probably cheaper to buy it at one of the exhibitors...)
Second observation: If you camp next to your Commander, don't plan on getting a lot of sleep, or privacy. People were constantly coming up to the plane and walking around, talking and asking questions about it. Several times I was awakened during the night (like after 11 PM!) by people having (possibly slightly inebriated) conversations about the plane. Commanders are ramp magnets of the first order, and pilots just cannot help themselves!
I'm not sure if I can talk D'Ann into going to SNF, because she likes Oshkosh a lot, and doesn't really want to do TWO fly-ins in one year... But we'll see.
