With 8 Commanders signed up for the Shoreham Meet & Greet on 7th March, I thought I would give the invitation another airing.

We are meeting at Shoreham EGKA on March 7th before 12:00 local. All attending will be parked together and transported to T3 where we will have a meeting and then to the restaurant for Lunch. Followed by bragging and chin-wagging.

On the agenda -

Summer long distance fly out, suggestions invited.
More local meetings around the UK.
Anything else you feel like bringing up.

Shoreham is the only airfield in the UK with an approved RNAV GPS approach, good opportunity to try this out if you are properly rated and equipped.

If you would like to come and have not already registered, post a reply to this thread with your Reg and number of POB.

Look forward to meeting you.

Re: Shoreham Fly In 7th March

Actually it might be nine and possibly an Agusta 109 flown by Mike Perry if he can get away from his fare paying passengers(he is working that day).

Re: Shoreham Fly In 7th March

Chaps,

I'm afraid it looks like I won't be able to make it as KEEF will be having an annual at the time!

I did speak to Nigel (N115MD) and Col Perry and neither can do it either...sorry.

Enjoy!

Re: Shoreham Fly In 7th March

I dont think that will be a problem Matt, Sue asked me for the latest time.
If we call the reception I am sure they will arrange it for us.
Even I will be getting away before 4pm.

Re: Shoreham Fly In 7th March

John

We'll be there at around 11:30.

North of 25 means that we won't be able to access the aircraft without the minibus, it may be worth letting Shoreham know that we may want to do some photography when all the aircraft are together and that there will be varing departure times due to destination, weather and daylight.

If anyone needs a contact number on the ground my mobile is 07880 876087.

Long range weather for Saturday is Broken Cloud with wind 10kts, very good vis.

Re: Shoreham Fly In 7th March

I have asked about the photography and said we will try to minimise the number of trips the mini bus has to make on departure. Likewise my mobile number is 07837 024771 if anyone needs to call me.

Re: Shoreham Fly In 7th March

Update on above.
Mini bus when we need it is not a problem as is the photography, providing Hi Vis jackets are worn whilst air side.

Re: Shoreham Fly In 7th March

Just looked at the forecast for Saturday, whole of the south is not looking too bad except right over the top of Shoreham which shows one very black cloud. Lets hope its not too low.

Re: Shoreham Fly In 7th March

The 3 day forecast for Saturday is not looking so good for Shoreham for VFR pilots such as myself.

Not sure how many of you have IR or IMC but may I suggest an alternative in case the forecast is correct for a change.

I fly into Shoreham a lot and the problem is often fog on the field or low cloud on the top of the South Downs. To the north of the Downs the forecast looks better, could I suggest White Waltham if we have a VFR problem at Shoreham as a last minute alternative if we need it. They are able to cope with large numbers of pop-up traffic and have 170 acres to park them on. I know the resturant will be able to cope at short notice. Only as an alternative if Shoreham is closed to VFR on the day though.

What do you think?

Re: Shoreham Fly In 7th March

Latest weather shows an improvement, broken cloud and sunny intervals by 12:00, moderate winds and good vis. Looks like we are a go.:)

Re: Shoreham Fly In 7th March

Hope the weather is OK, I have been looking forward to tommorrow.
I think we might end up getting there at about Midday.

Re: Shoreham Fly In 7th March

I had planned my arrival for 12:30 today hoping the very low cloud would lift, I called Shoreham before I left and was given 800 scattered and 1200 broken but try as I might I couldn't break cloud by 500ft at the Seaford VOR, knowing there is high ground on the aproach to runway 20 of 325ft I decided to give up and return to base. I hope we can try again another time.
