Re: San Marcos TX FBO?

Berry is the one you want. They are the only folks selling fuel, and that's where people go to catch a plane, etc. Looks like of the other two, one is just developing hangars and the other is mostly maintenance.

I did 90% of my landings during training there, but haven't landed 114BL there yet... careful, it's a very busy training airport with traffic all directions.

And what are you doing in San Marcos, that you hadn't thought to make plans with your Austin Commander Comrades? We are very close, ya know!

(Mary Beth says "kick his butt for not letting us know!!")

Scott - San Marcos was my Commander's second home as my girlfried lives out there. You want Berry Aviation at the approach end of runway 08. They recently have self service fuel in addition to the truck if you want to save a bit.

Beautiful FBO, friendly, free parking although you may have to taxi around a bit to find a spot with ropes. Can be busy at times with 3 intersecting runways. Just built an FAA control tower but it's not staffed yet. Much easier stop than going into Austin Bergstrom.

Re: San Marcos TX FBO?

Thanks guys. Berry it is. Dave ... I was actually supposed to be at my sisters over by Boerne tonight, but decided to relax and let the Tstorms calm down. I got an email from an old Chicago client this morning who has opened a big project near the San Marcos aiport. He heard I was in TX and suggested I stop in for a tour. Could be business. Anyway, this came up suddently. I will only be there for about 2-3 hours then off to sis's who is holding a birthday party for my wife, who is meeting me while I am on the road for 3 weeks.

Next trip!

Scott, I use Berry as well. Alyssa finishes college there this coming year. I'll be going down again possibly this year and certainly next spring.

Re: San Marcos TX FBO?

Scott, HYI is a nice place, Self service fuel is right in front of the building with the Blue roof. Once you're gassed up there are tons of places to park closeby. To make it simple, bring a couple of ropes and park anywhere. The Blue building is staffed by Berry. I just stopped in and gave them my contact info. Simple, That's it. You have just enough distance when heading northbound to climb over the Austin Traffic area.

Re: San Marcos TX FBO?

BTW, cant make it all the way to CPS from HYI, so I stop in F51 to gas, About an hour and 30 from HYI. Cheapest gas in Texas, and a great little unmaned stop with Self Service fuel. I've been able to make CGI from HYI nonstop before if the winds aren't against you too bad.
