Took a couple hiking fanatic employees over the North Cascades this morning early for thermal avoidance. What a perfect day, calm smooth, and jaw dropping beauty. I never get down this close to mountains like this. Its always blowing 50 knots and you all know what comes with that.
Click full screen for this one its high res. and a GoPro doesn't even come close to the conveying actual experience.
I have more video for later we dropped down in to a valley and followed a 55 mile long lake out toward home at 1000 feet over the water.

P.S. Ken, Sierra Bravo wants me to tell you thank you for finding her such a good home and she says she is having a jolly good time.

Re: Photo shoot over the North Cascade Range

Brian how far away from Mt. Baker were you as that is some wild country around there.

Re: Photo shoot over the North Cascade Range

Almost surreal!

Re: Photo shoot over the North Cascade Range

Doesn't get any better than that. Beautiful airplane over beautiful countryside. On the flip side Brian, I hope all is well with friends and family and the devastating fire in the valley hasn't got too close to home.

Re: Photo shoot over the North Cascade Range

Frank I was 50 miles from MT Baker if Baker was a VOR we were on a 91 radial. It looked like October up there kind of scary. There should have been 10 feet of snow left and melting fast but it's gone already.

Thanks for the concern Criag but luckily we did not get effected. I watched from our side of the Wenatchee River about 2 miles away. If the wind turned 90 to the north it may have jumped 1000 ft across the river and head toward us. I'm 1/4 mile into the populated green belt so I'm not to worried only concerned its dry out here.

Re: Photo shoot over the North Cascade Range

Too cool Brian...what altitude were you at in this vid? Curious :-)

Re: Photo shoot over the North Cascade Range

I was at 9000 and just maneuvering as we all where taking pictures and video hence the IFR altitude. There are several peaks around 9,000 in that area. It looks like I am higher because the tree line is so far below. I thought our tree line was about 7,000 maybe it is only 2k below I don,t know.
If you look on your flight softwere in Washington State pull about 113 sm distance from Seatac in Seattle KSEA on a 30 degree radial from the runway you will see Washington pass that's the area.

Thanks for the summer visual vacation from the flat lands. Remembering my two years in Spokane. What a great time. Thanks again for the visual sound trip.

Re: Photo shoot over the North Cascade Range

Your welcome Bob, I see your in Tyler. I know a Bonanza pilot there Bob Gentry you know him? He sold his Bonanza to a guy here then I bought half share. I flew his Bonanza 35 for about 4 yrs. We needed to sell her and he flew up here and bought her and flew her back to Tyler in 2008. Nice guy her loves that bird glad I got to sell it back to him. He flys an off white & blue and gold trim 35 N 80462.

Re: Photo shoot over the North Cascade Range

Sorry to say I have not met up with Bob Gentry. You would think different since I have been on KTYR since 1997. There have been several multi plane rental space large hangers over the past years. Come and gone except for 2 very large multi hangar locations. But no V-tail 35s.
Again, I loved the tour.
Have a happy.
