Yes, it’s been to many years. Flying is the very best way to get there, better once it warms up. As I remember it’s about a 20 minute walk to town from the airport.

Last time it was $10.50 to park for the day, likely higher now.

Mary and I will be headed to Mackinac in September. The Beech Aero Club is having their annual event at OSH so we’ll spend a few days on the island before heading to the event.

I fly in there a couple of times a year. Landing is $12.50 for a single and another $12.50 for overnight. It can be quite a walk to town. Better to call the local taxi service before you take off and give them an arrival time. They will have a horse drawn carriage waiting for you. I think about $7 per person for a ride into town.

Make sure to bring your cowl and pitot covers if staying overnight as the mud dabbers can be bad and will climb into anything they can.

I spoke with a guy years ago about a car show in St Ignace, MI, right up the road from there. He mentioned that bird droppings are prevalent. Is this true on the Island also? (Seagulls?)

I have never had a problem with it and usually spend a couple of nights. My guess is they spend most of their time down over the town where the feeding is better from all the dropped fudge and ice cream.

3TC has been to the island many times and will feel right at home. Don’t fly over the downtown shoreline. Doesn’t hurt to bring your own tiedowns. If landing to the west, there is usually a little burble coming over the eastern shore. Agree that walking to town is a hike. Taxi/carriage is a much better option.
