OSHKOSH Friday night August 1 Meetup

I started a new thread on this so I can get a handle on who will be around. please reply only if you are interested in meeting up at our campsite in the North 40, Friday evening around 6:30 or 7:00. We will have a grill and bring some high quality sausages of several varieties (because the freeze, thaw and grill well,) buns, condiments, some snacks, some adult beverages. Bring a snack or something to drink if you can, but not mandatory at all. I know it can be tricky there. ALL ARE WELCOME but would be great to know by Wednesday afternoon how many. So far we have:

Scott & Conor
Sherman & Camillia and a couple of friends of theirs, one an A&P IA
Juergan (I think!)
Sid (I think!)
Jim Parker (& friend?)
Oh boy ... I am missing a couple ...
Possible a guy from England who is doing a feature on Commanders for their magazine over there.
Who else?

p.s. I am going to try to throw in a couple of extra chair gizmos, but if you have something lightweight you can tote in, that is a bonus!

Well sitting here in Dallas after arriving from the short hop from Australia ,waiting for our flight to Milwaukee on our way.

This is great ... we have An old Indian guru, A Hebrew genius, 3 Crazy Aussies (they always are), A German-Texan (a lethal combination) a Young Stud (Conor, not me) magazine guy from England, possibly my AME might stop by ... and more. What an eclectic combination!

Things pretty well wrap up by 5 Friday so lets try to meet at 6:00. Just spoke to Sid and he has a hot date and has to leave early, so wanted to start early. We aren't going anywhere though so come when you can. Everyone send me their cell number to scott@truen.com so I can text our location Friday the first around noon.

We landed Oshkosh 7:30 last night, only one other plane Fisk Aproach.very accomodating, let me land 27 for camping.last one in. Row 510 Runway side= our address. Got set up, Incredible flight: 8.5over Appalachians, broken deck 6000 below.Headwind at 11k, but still made it in 2.45hrs. 10.6-11.2 gph. Fuel at Lima made us Brats. Then front split and gave us windiw between cells S of Lake. Started 4.5, when over at 6.5, then had to go back to 4.5. Rain Before FWA to Joliet. Between layers lots of Varga and haze . Past Joiet, N to Watertown RYV, had to keep going lower to 2.5 to stay VFR. Smooth flight all the way.Had Cowl glitch will write about in new thread. So, believe we are 1st Commander here.

when the Aussies are coming, we always double the beer order! Really hope you can come someday, Rob. If you do, rest assured you have a ride from Chicago, Minneapolis, Milwaukee or Detroit ... whatever works for you to get here.

Great account, Sherman! There are always Commanders there that surprise us. Have even found a few guys who never knew about COG. How is that possible? Anyway, feel free to invite them to the Friday evening OSHCOG Soiree. There you go ... been looking for a name for this. OSHCOG. Like it.

Several cannot arrive until 8 PM anyway, so plan on meeting us at our spot in the North 40 by 7:45 or 8:00. We will leave some chair out! Please confirm receipt.

Osh COG 2 update: cowl fixed. Bought chafe tape teflon. ROLL was $42 but less than $40 @ show. Only needed afoot, so Whoever wants some fir their coeling PM me and free to anyone wants. Maybe distributr at Dayton!!!
Landing gear wiring plastic stickys that dropped since new annual in May-recsecured with gutter seal.

Scott- We WILL BE THERE. Camellia feeling better but her eye still swollen from the combo of the pesticide spray of the airport grass and the fuel toxics. The winds where quite breezy in the campground and being right on the flightline, we got it in the tent every morning.

So you have my cell 410-302-3930. Terry, Where is your plane parked? Saw a C- Commander when on N40 bus 8 PM going to return drill to EAA Kermit Weeks hanger (The big onee with the FORD emblem that's where they keep the Tri-motor). So closed up tent and at dorms with Camellia tonite. Call or text us wgen you land, COG hook up for airshow?

Good to see Scott and Sherman this afternoon...sorry I couldn't stay for the get together....going back on Sunday to check out more vendors...everyone have a safe flight home!!!
