Re: Oshkosh 2015

Welcome Eilon! You are the 1st Commander owner in Israel I think in several decades.
Where did you find your plane? Back in the 90s, a TWA pilot, Barry Schiff, had arranged 'A GA flying Tour of Israel' in rental C-172s. Events included meeting with the PM and a flight to Jordan , meeting with King Hussein. Was planning to participate until Family matters superceded.

Since then never heard much about General Aviation in Israel. Please do share all you can with Scott ( one of our finest adventurers & Characters) and this group! Also try to meet Sid, Pat and any other COG members still in OSHKOSH!

Where do you plan to fly your Commander? One of our members, based in Germany, often shares his flying adventures @ Europe and recently to Tunisia (before the recent 'Terrorism'. Hope you will do the same for us North & Central American Commander Owners, Uwe, has a great website with pics from his flights.!

Again, Welcome & Mazel Tov!

Welcome to the Group David, Spent many Happy years visiting Isreal, staying right on the Beach in Tel Aviv until just last year. Still Miss it. Would have loved to take a ride around Isreal with you, but don't know If I'll get a chance at another layover until I retire...Shalom!

Welcome to the group. Sorry I missed you yesterday and today at the show. You will learn a lot from the Cog members. Congrats on your new plane

Re: Oshkosh 2015

I was there for a couple of days and during my hours at the flight operation area I flagged thru three arriving Commanders. I was stationed at runway 09/27 at B1 and A. Wanted to wave but had no place to stick the paddles. Pat is was great to talk to you and I will be contacting you shortly.

Notes from EAA
We had nearly perfect weather," EAA Chairman Jack Pelton said in his closing news conference at AirVenture on Sunday, "and it really felt like we're getting back to our culture -- that's what we've been striving for, these last three years." On Tuesday, the show logged "the most aircraft arrivals ever," with more than 3,000 landings, Pelton said, and as of Sunday morning the tower had logged 16,278 arrivals and departures. Pelton credited a quick response by the airport emergency crews for saving lives during the one accident this year, a Piper Malibu crash, which caused some injuries but no fatalities. Attendance is the highest it has been since 2005, with about 550,000 visitors as of Sunday morning. Camping was up about 4 percen

Re: Oshkosh 2015

Had a great time talking with David Eisenberg from Israel about Commanders. He has a big project on his hands (showed me pics) but he is focused. I explained the "Christmas Ornament" parts process (I think he had a hard time believing me at first) and how most of his problems finding parts would go away by just posting what he needs on this board. Great guy, as was his friend Dan Jacobson, a United Pilot, who left a note on my bird to call them.

Sid hung out with us Thursday night. Terry Hemmen and Mike Wetherbee Friday night. WX was prefect, airshows and forums excellent as always. Just another great EAA OSH experience!
