I'll be heading to eugene OR area for a couple days on the 9th through the 11th (July). Any one in the area please advise ( I couldn't resist ). Looking for any interesting place to see while there, and any Commander folks in the area give a shout. So far I'll be trying to search out some wineries.
By the way, W43 will be having an airshow/carshow on July 19 anyone traveling to OSH from the west is welcome to stop by, checkout Hulettairshow.net for details.

Hi Kevin,

Here are a few things to do in Southern Oregon:

1. Wine tour the applegate and umpqua valleys
2. Go to a show at the Britt fest in Jacksonville www.brittfest.org
3. Go to the coast via 199 out of Grants pass. While in Grants Pass check
out Summer Jo's restaurant, they have wine tastings, and some concert or
dinner plays outdoors in the summer.
4. Go to a play in Ashland www.osfashland.com
5. Visit the mountain lakes and fish or swim...Lake of the woods (swimming
lake), Howard Prairie Resort
6. Tour the umpqua river area and hike to numerous waterfalls (highways 138
and 62). Check out Crater Lake while there, there is a lodge to stay or a
nice but expensive lodge on 138 about 40 miles up from Roseburg (steamboat
lodge)
7. River rafting expeditions jet boat or floating non powered, half day and
longer trips
8. Visit the multiple wineries in the area between Roseburg and Eugene or between Eugene and Portland (Willamette valley). Check their Pinot Noirs.

A Gaggle of Commanders will be passing by the 24 on the way to OLM via BPI to start the AK trip this year.

Anyone in the hood want to connect? Maybe. We'll be in BPI eve 24th.

I'm flying up to OLM (from Phoenix) on Sat the 25th. will be passing through Oregon then.

I assume you will be seeing Robin (and talking politics), it would be nice to hear how things are getting along out in the "real west"...

I will be heading north on the 26th from KWJF through KOAK then KCEC then through Oregon to KOLM.

Hope all make it on the 26th.
If anyone gets delayed due to WX, Tstorms, mech problems, etc. the rest leave the 27th.
Orientation dinner late afternoon the 26th.

So plan for the worst with contingencies.

Sven, correct me if I am wrong I thought the orientation dinner is on the 27th. We depart KOLM on the 28th. I thought.

Sven, Wayne and I are leaving Phoenix, DVT, on Sat the 25th. Plan on arriving OLM that afternoon. We have a renta car and this will give us extra time for weather etc. See you there. We are going direct with stop at Elko, NV EKO for potty break and fuel.

According to the posted itinerary, you are correct, Monday 27 arrival and pre-flight dinner. Tuesday 28th depart for Prince George.

A bunch of us (Sven, Bill B., me/Jim Bunn, Lonnie, mebbe Greg Walker)...are targeting arrival at OLM on Saturday 25th.

I plan to arrive on Sunday afternoon. Should give me the out of arriving Monday morning if the afternoon thunderstorms are too bad on Sunday.

The pre-flight dinner and overall briefing is Monday the 27th. The departure from Olympia is Tuesday morning, the 28th.

so now there becomes another day to kill in OLM (re my plans). Not sure if I can handle that. Gotta find something good more to do now.
(Wonder how I got that screwed up? WTF!)

Well, for one, you can come down to KCEC and meet me there and we could fly north together along the beach atfer lunch. Just a thought.
