Well, I did it - I went ahead and bought myself one of those "Air-O-Planes"

Like many of you, it has been a long-time dream of mine but, when the opportunity to purchase a 1976 / 114 owned by Mark Burry, the planet's kind of lined up and I went for it. As such, as of Thursday, 22 June 2017, I became the new "owner" of N114SE (I've always had trouble viewing myself as the "owner" of an aircraft in that there are usually a string of owners - instead, I view myself as the current Steward, not the owner).

I would like to sincerely thank Mark Burry and his Wife for taking such incredible care of N114SE over the last 16 years - be assured that I will try to take care of her as well as you did, Sir. Additionally, as many of you know, Judi Anderson was incredible throughout the process (thank you for your patience); being based in the same area, I am extremely grateful to Carl Lee for his assistance and sharing his knowledge; and, gratitude is directed to Ted Hazlewood and his incredible Crew at Southern Cal Aircraft Repair (KSEE) in allowing me to be there throughout the Annual.

I very much look forward to meeting many of you and participating in COG into the future (so, does this mean I can put a picture of N114SE in my profile now?)

Congratulations on the acquisition of 4SE, one of the finer looking 114's in the fleet, in my opinion.

The "AOPA Sweepstakes Commander" is also based at SMX, and a few of us occasionally get together there at the hotel restaurant for lunch. We'll be sure to let you know the next time we do so.

Re: Oh, oh, what have I done?

Hi Rik, I took a friend to look at 114SE 3 weeks ago and encouraged him to purchase her, as she is a fine example of a great Commander who was impeccably cared for by Mark the previous steward, as I too agree with Vince above. However, my friend couldn't or wasn't ready to pull the trigger. So it was meant to be. Welcome to our group. Anything you may need as a new owner is right here at your finger tips, and if it isn't, someone with knowledge will graciously assist you.

Welcome to the COG Rik, my wife & I sat with Mark Burry & his wife @ the Osage Beach COG fly-in 2 years ago and they had a great story about their flight out from San Diego. We purchased our 114 back in 1987 and it has been the perfect travel machine for us. I am sure you will enjoy your 114 and the COG people you will meet will go out of their way to help you with questions/concerns. Hope to meet you in Colorado.
