No go - tired of winter

Re: No go - tired of winter

We just got back from Hawaii this weekend.

My wife Liza (born in Moscow) has had enough of NY winter ... wants to move back to SoCal.

Re: No go - tired of winter

8"and still snowing 'good' in Northern Virginia. Drove to Petersburg Saturday as very gusty. By 2 pm was 68-70 degrees and put top down on Solstice. A Tease of Spring. Hope to go flying Thursday or Friday. May have to camp out in Joel's or Pete's hanger next year. Enough is enough. Like Glen said, With 'Crap shoot' weather, Going by Amtrack to Boston in two weeks for JCN AGM. Sr. Business class redeye.

One tough winter.
Its been unusually warm out here this year. Probably the warmest winter I can remember. Little to no snow up in the mountains.
350 day's VFR a year!

350
+5
355

Where did the other 10 go?

Remember, Californians are known to operate in a "different ozone" from the remainder of the mainlanders... Perhaps those days are simply lost in the ozone? LoL...

Well, yeah, but David is in Texas. Perhaps you've been visiting California lately?

Re: No go - tired of winter

Spring is in the air. Enough ice melted to get the airplane out of the hangar TWO Sundays in a row !!!

Re: No go - tired of winter

Finally got my hanger doors open (frost heaved - pinned the doors and stopped them from slidding). Enjoyed great climb rate with 14 knots right down the runway and temps at 20f ;-)

Nowhere to go, so practiced ground reference and stalls. Felt great to be flying again.

Re: No go - tired of winter

Well the 8-10" of snow/frz rain from Monday mostly gone as it was steady rain in the 40s most of the afternoon. Tomorrow/Friday suppose to be near 60 but winds direct crosswinds forecasts11-14 with gusts 23-26 lower in evening. Will go and see. Really don't like 'working' the direct xwinds. Not fun for me and at the xwind control limits -not good for the bird.
Really need to fly, but have to be 'Safe'.
Want to add some outlets in the hanger, so we will be +.

Re: No go - tired of winter

Landed in Leesburg VA Saturday evening from the south. Spent Sunday at Udvar-Hazy Museum. If you have not been there ... my oh my. Aviation Eye Candy Palace... and BIG candy. Stayed in Winchester Sunday night and woke up to 11" of new snow! Left Leesburg Tuesday at 3:00 PM. Even after a whole day in the 40's with big wind, here is what I found arriving at the airport.

You were in my neck of the woods Scott. I could have found you a hanger at HEF.

That would have been nice! Well, somehow I had thought the snow was behind us.

Carl, Joe,

What is this white stuff that Scott speaks of; it covers his wings? :D

Manna from heaven, my friend! With the incredible snow and cold in the Great Lakes (the world's larges supply of fresh water) this year, the lake levels will be up substantially! Makes is all worth while.;)

p.s. every once in a while, some SW politician floats the idea of piping our water to points south or southwest. Don't even THINK about it! Because of that water, the rust belt shall rise again!

I'm not sure if Scott is trying to convince us or himself!

We generally get a major influx of new residents after a cold snowy winter. I expect this year to be a record breaker.

We are just going to ask each one to bring their water rights with them.
