Took the afternoon off to fly and of course the hanger doors were frozen solid. Flying turning into shoveling and chipping ice. I am so ready for spring

Re: No go - tired of winter

I had that same problem here in Texas a couple of days ago. Finally got off work early, headed to the hangar - ARGH! Doors are frozen shut. Rest of the week has been super-busy at work, and Saturday/Sunday the forecast is calling for rain, low ceilings, etc. Yuck!

Please, you guys from up North - TAKE YOUR DARN WINTER WEATHER BACK! We moved to Texas for a reason, dang it!

Jim

Its the same up here in New England and and no end in site for a very rough winter and cold for the whole country, must be that side effect of global warming all the fruit loops are talking about.

Re: No go - tired of winter

Things are tough down here in South Georgia, today I had to wear a jacket.

Life is a barrel of fun.

Hruuuuuumph - supposed to be 82 this weekend. Downright chilly, I'd say:p

Re: No go - tired of winter

My youngest son Dylan and I are flying up to Boyne Mountain Sunday morning, site of the COG Fly-in some years ago. Land on the ski resort runway and within 10 minutes you are on your skis. Will have a glorious day on the slopes! If I can get him going early enough we are going to do some winter aerial photography along Sleeping Bear Dunes. (He is a pretty accomplished photographer.) Hope to have some great shots to post.

Love it or leave it! :D

Re: No go - tired of winter

I'll leave the skiing to others but I could easily take an afternoon in that spa at Boyne.

Re: No go - tired of winter

Yeah man. Day of skiing THEN hit the Spa!

Re: No go - tired of winter

Yea, but here in Phoenix it's water skiing.....

Re: No go - tired of winter

Like Vince said 82 here this weekend. Was at the airport (POC) today and heard the water skiers on Puddingstone Lake adjacent to the airport; however, in local mountains snow skiing is great. We get a little variety here!

Re: No go - tired of winter

Scott,

I have only ever been skiing one time in my life, back about 1968 up in New England.

Only time I have ever paid extra for insurance on a rental.

Some idiot put the ski lodge at the bottom of the hill and I ended up under the veranda. That extra $1.00 that I paid covered the broken equipment and my trip to the emergency room.

After that I started jumping out of airplanes, a lot safer.

Life is a barrel of fun.

Re: No go - tired of winter

Pete,

Where in the world do you go waterskiing in PHX? The lakes on all the golf courses? Or maybe the concrete drainage ditches after the monsoons? :)

Re: No go - tired of winter

Pete,
Why would you go water skiing? The girls do not wear many clothes.
When you snow ski you can see their eyes because you are not distracted by other features.

Re: No go - tired of winter

Lake Pleasent and I don't ski anymore. I do run around in a bass boat and do little fishing

However, even here in the BWI SFRA area, there were 3 low flying singles-as I enjoyed the 'Engine music' I Told myself I was at Oshkosh in the campground. Next week will be back on thd tree farm and hanger/Airplane on the agenda-IF clocks forward help bring Spring.

Re: No go - tired of winter

Gang,

Just got back from vacation in Hawaii. With the weather in Toronto and work, I had not flown since late November. Took the +28C and VFR weather to do my US Bi-annual Flight Review. It was great to be back in the air. Looking forward to spring.
