Nice fall weather, short video in to Seattle

Re: Nice fall weather, short video in to Seattle

Brian, I had to go to Wenatchee several times this year. Getting down to the airport which sits just below the mountains it makes it very interesting. To land on 30 I drop down about 15 plus miles east and follow the river back west. For 12 coming over the hills I do about the same except I go further north where the river bends and then follow it back to the east.

Nice video.

Re: Nice fall weather, short video in to Seattle

Thanks Judi, I try nice high pressure calm weather helps. Frank yes indeed I have to deal with living in a 6000 ft hole every time I fly. East bound I have a low spot 8 miles out I cross it at about 6,000 then have to dump 8 miles and 5000 feet. In the fall or winter the air is calm I descend 1000 fpm and still keep her below red line IAS. In the summer its a different story I always call Wenatchee the roughest air on earth with the thermals but that's not true.

The Bitter Root Valley in the Rocky's with 9,000 peaks on each side in a 70 knt wind was the only time I had thoughts I may not be able to control this ship. Dropped the gear at 9k to land in Missoula MT half the passengers were praying and half were crying and I didn't feel to good myself. I just wish I had my Commander that was in the old Bonanza straight 35. The Commander don't like being pushed around I have never seen a more stable ship.
CALL ME NEXT TIME TO COME OVER HERE! I want to see your ship again

Re: Nice fall weather, short video in to Seattle

I had my experience flying through Death Valley in my Cherokee 140 during one spring. It was horrible and at times I did not have control. I landed in Reno around 1pm and stayed on the ground until the next day.

I agree that the Commander is one of the most stable out there.

Might be a bit before I get back over there but at a fly in I am sure we will meet up.
Or we can meet up somewhere. Lets talk.
