Just want to introduce myself to the group. I’ve been lurking on the forums for quite a while and have dreamed of owning a Commander for the last 20 years. 50J is my first plane. Cherry, low time 112A hotshot from SoCal. Put in 20 hours in the first 3 days and love it. Came from an awesome owner who has kept the plane in enviable condition and made the purchase experience a breeze. Thank you to all the members who make this forum so great. Also, thanks to Judi for getting the deal done.

That looks like a very nice plane. Congratulations. Send us some pictures of the interior and panel.
 
Interior is brand new.....any marks or scuffs are from me. Just needs an engine monitor. I have all the fancy stuff at my day job so attitude, heading, airspeed, and ball are all I really need.

We were going to do the door stays, and wing root fairings when we had it for the Hot Shot, but the budget ran a little short. Those are still the first 2 things I'd do to that plane - after securing the nose gear, of course.
 
Door stays will probably go in during annual. First order of business is installing a Plane Power alternator to get rid of the pulsating in my headset and getting an engine monitor. I’m open to suggestions but highly considering the EDM-830 with Fuel Flow.

Dennis - I am a fan of the 830. I've had mine for a bit over 2 years. While it's not a primary replacement, it serves it's purpose well and it's great to have redundancy in the cockpit. Depending on which box you have - it will also probably connect into a 430/530/540 etc... The King KSN-770 - does not have a connection for it. I really like the fact you can mount it portrait or landscape - so it mas more options in how it fits into your panel.

I wish it had fuel pressure and I wish it was easier to dim - mine is super bright at night - and I keep forgetting to play with it to get the settings right..

I am sure other Hot Shot/Turbo drivers will weigh in - as an engine monitor if more critical for them then us N/A folks.

Plane appears to be in really good shape.

I did some glider training at Blairstown in the early 90s - ended up getting my private/power license instead ..

I'm a fan of the Insight Avionics G3/G4. STCd as primary, with fuel flow, oat, vibration, and more.

If you can swing it the 900 is a little more money and certified about 1,500.00 more and installation time about the same, and has a some more features.

Nice looking Commander 112 and Red and White looks awesome on the plane, and you need to decorate the empty hanger too!!!

I forgot to mention if you want any new electronics I have a company I buy them direct from and usually they are a
300.00 to $500.00 less than the big box avionics shops that are all price rigged, and usually the big box guys are usually all within 100.00 of each other.

Yeah, interesting. I heard Dennis on the UNICOM departing as I was arriving (and saw him fly past as I was turning to downwind). Then I saw the other Commander by the fuel pump as I taxied to parking. Then I saw your airplane leave and return, though didn't know it was you until later. I didn't realize there's a whole farm of Commanders at Blairstown now. :)

Sorry we couldn't spend much time chatting, but it was good to see you again.
