Was put onto this site from a current member who I spoke to in regards to his plane!! I'm in the tail end of my student program and would like to get my own plane to build time in.....originally was looking at a 112A but couldn't accept such a low useful load so guess i'm focusing on the 114's.....lol.......are there any members that are based out of Sarasota (KSRQ) or nearby?? Would love to see a commander up close.

What kind of useful load are you looking for? What do you think your flying profile will be?

I'm a family man, but it's rare for me to have more then 2 people on board. I have had 4, 2 adults and 2 kids. And on one occasion 3 adults. 280, 230, 150 lbs people. Just have to manage the amount of fuel on board. My 112A holds 70gal, it rarely out more then 50 gal in since I only burn 9.5 GPH.

Re: new member!!

Guess I never thought of it, what is an 'average' useful load in our 112 fleet?

Re: new member!!

112/112A avg. 850 lbs., unless you hv a loaded panel and/or a Hot Shot.

Re: new member!!

I'm just up the road from you in New Port Richey, Fl. My wife and I have owned 2 112's. If you like to get a closer look and perhaps fly I can come down to SRQ sometime. My contact info is below.

I was looking at a 112A that is currently listed on Controller but after speaking with Ken he advised I look at 114's as they commonly have a useful load in the 1,100 lb range. With myself, wife and both kids we're around the 630lb mark which would leave us about 220lbs for fuel and other stuff......I'd rather have a little more of a cushion but maybe that's just me being paranoid. I'd also like to possibly take up a few friends here and there which would bring us dangerously close to the max weight.

What would be a "fair" price range for a nice 114?? From the few currently listed it's as low as $105K up to $140K....I realize there are allot of factors involved such as engine time and avionics but there has to be an overall average price??

Re: new member!!

You can always use venal on the AOPA website and talk to Judy Anderson on this site.

Re: new member!!

Thanks Mike, I'd like to drop by and take a look at your 114.......when are you typically at the airport??

I fly about 3 weekends a month, usually on Sunday, but I live only about a 10 minute drive from the airport so not an issue to run up there when you're in town. I'm taking her over to Clearwater Aviation tomorrow to have her ignition timing checked and I won't pick her up before next Saturday so next week is a no-go.
