Hi everyone, I am a new member and the proud owner of the only Rockwell Commander 112 TCA in Australia VH-RRR. Don't blame me with the call sign as it came with the aircraft at purchase about 20 years ago. You guessed it, ATC often respond "where for art thou...." particularly in rural areas of which Australia has plenty of. Looking forward to keeping up with news and events.

Re: New Member

Welcome, Kevin. I actually dropped by your airstrip a couple of years ago on a 3-week "drive-a-bout" between Brisbane and Melbourne ... went down through the interior and back along the coast. Wonderful trip. I stopped at most every Aussie airstrip I happened across just to see what was around. I also got to fly with both Rob Hendry at Tocumwal and Ian Cairns at Sydney. Good chance I will be heading back to Melbourne in the next six months so I will look you up!

Re: New Member

Thanks everyone for your well wishes. Now I need to ask, I need to post a question re acquiring new Aileron Skins, do I start a new post and where or follow an existing thread which appears to be quite old? I have recently completed a repaint (still keeping the Callsign VH-RRR) but need to replace left and right Aileron Skins to finalise the job and get back to flying again.

Re: New Member

Hi Scott, great to hear Australia was part of a trip albeit a fair distance from home from your point of view. Rob has been a great ambassador for Rockwell Commanders in Australia and to flying in general. I'm sure he would have given you the "Cooks Tour". I have posted a question in my thread on acquiring Aileron skins, any ideas? No luck in Aus in particular the fact that I have the only 112TCA in the country. Hopefully we can catch up on your next visit.

Re: New Member

Welcome Kevin, especially as TCA owner, and now caretaker. We TC/TCA owners share a lot of valuable, most valuable Tech and idiosyncrasies unique to our engines , and we have several active COG members/posters. Don't hesitate to ask Anything?

Only TV in Australia -Wow!!

Thanks Sherman, certainly with having a one off aircraft (112 TCA) in Australia I do find engineers get the panics up at service time and when parts are required. Having said that I do feel a little more comfort now as a COG member and I really do love my TCA and value the benefits, especially never having to "firewall" the throttle and not running out of "choof" at altitude. Presume there is a TC/TCA forum?

Re: New Member

No separate foru4m, but if you search old archives. Threads on unique TC/TCA T0360 maintenence issues. Hours of sharing by our 'usual suspects'.
Always inspect turbo mounts, the throttle/waste gate cable 'sheathes' and the oil return tube 4 clamps & 2 special hoses. Notorious for 'weeps'.

Hey Kevin, if you don't turn up anything in your part of the world, we have several large salvage yards here in TX, shouldn't be too hard to call them up and see what they have.

ASOD says they just got a 1973 112 in. Not sure if yours are the same as that one.

We're 16 hours behind you, time zone wise, so...if you get up early you can call them yesterday I guess...

Re: New Member

Thanks everyone for your contributions. It seems now that I am enquiring in Au about "repairs" to ailerons I am having a far more positive response. I am waiting with abated breath for a final quote for fabrication. Once confirmed I will post the results. Thank you again, I will also post this response under aileron skins needed in parts. Happy flying, soon I hope.

Re: New Member

Good news Kevin. Hopefully you'll be in the air soon.
