New Member Looking to buy

Good Evening COG Members,
I have been a long time lover of the Commander and the time and opportunity has come for me to start looking for a 114 or 114A/B. I have spent the last 15 years flying Saratoga’s and it is time to move up. I recently moved to Waco TX and with this am now looking for an opportunity to get some experience in a Commander. If any local pilots would be willing to give me a ride and share your experiences I would buy the fuel and lunch.

I am also looking for leads on a good Commander, I have been looking at the usual sites and don’t see much.

thanks

Barry

Welcome to the group Barry, you have come to the right place for Commander information. As we always say, when looking for a Commander contact Judy Anderson, she is the expert and knows all of the fleet. Many others will pop in here soon with Texas information.

Hi Barry, and welcome to the group. I’m in Arlington, just bought my 1979 Commander 114A Hot Shot in November 2020 and have been loving it! Happy to fly to Waco to show/fly/discuss. How’s the 23rd look for you?

Don

You are lucky - several Commander experts in close proximity to you. Someone already mentioned Judy Anderson. Do NOT buy a Commander without her help.

Greg Walker is close by in East Texas (near Tyler) and Carl Lee in Bullard (Tyler) for help with a 112. Judy and Greg helped me a lot with my search.

You will not regret the purchase of a 114 or 114B. One of the smartest decisions I have ever made (to be honest the list of smart decisions is short, but still, this one was near the top).

Barry ... good luck on your search. I'll echo the other fugues, Judy is an awesome person to help you with your search. She know's the history on pretty much the entire fleet. If your'e budget can handle it, the 114B has a number additions which the 114/A don't have (NACA cowl, dual alternators, etc).

Hi Barry, N768F is based at Waco Regional - just went in for its annual but in a few weeks it should be back and ready to go play.

Keven,
Please give me a call when your out of annual as I would love to stop by and take a look and talk about your experiences with the Commander. I am just off the approach end of 14, so a quick trip to KACT. If you don’t mind me asking, who works on your 114B in the area?

Barry

For the light stuff there are a few guys that freelance out of RAM or Steve McLeud who teaches the maintenance school at TSTC for the annual it went to chucks at Austin Executive

Hi Barry after several delays N768F is back in hanger at KACT, let me know when yo want a peak
