Hi All,

I am pleased to announce FAA approval of Aerodyme's latest STC.

STC SA00326BO is for installation of the Hartzell Scimitar 3-Blade C3YR/F7693 on models 114 and 114A. Approval includes both 77" and 78" diameter, and installation of a new Hartzell S-1-55 governor if desired.

For the balance of this year, in celebration of this approval, I will price the STC at $1,500 which is the same price CPAC was getting for the McCauley STC when that was available. For a limited time, also, I can offer the factory new Hartzell prop package, complete with spinner assembly, for $7,900. This is the best price you could ever expect for a brand new 3-blade setup.

Installation is standard, nothing special.

Prop leadtime is approx 6 weeks ARO.

Don't miss this pricing if you have been hoping for a three-blade prop.

Thanks,
Jim

Re: New 3-Blade Prop STC for 114/A

I was waiting for Jim to put the word out.
We hung the 78” Scimitar last month and should test fly her this week. :) During yesterday’s run-up I thought I was looking at a P-47’s frontal prop footprint, looks sweet. Install was straight up and our run-up was very smooth, plan on a dynamic bal as well to match prop to eng.
Jim also provided my STC for the (“Slick 540 Commander”) IO-540-T4B5 engine upgrade for those that may be interested in a factory new or rebuilt install. (Dual individual drive slick mag’s)
And I must mention: Jim takes the time to answer even the most layman type of questions that you can possibly come up with.:o
Best, John

Re: New 3-Blade Prop STC for 114/A

This is a great piece of news... only wish it came out a year earlier when I was hunting for a prop!

Any pics of the prop installed?

Awesome!

Re: New 3-Blade Prop STC for 114/A

I ordered one yesterday.

Re: New 3-Blade Prop STC for 114/A

Jim,
Do I read this offer as " STC Approval includes a new 77" or 78" diameter prop, and a new Hartzell S-1-55 governor for $7,900 plus shipping" ? What is the total for both?

It is a great value for a new prop, will you post the performance advantages of this new 3-blade over the 2-blade for a 1977 114? Climb, cruise and economy numbers if you have them.
Thanks

Re: New 3-Blade Prop STC for 114/A

Hi David,

It is a great offer, but not that good, allow me to clarify:

Factory New 77" or 78" Scimitar Three-Blade Prop Including Spinner... $7,900
STC installation instructions, ICA, and permission letter... $1,500

The props drop ship from Hartzell in Piqua, OH.
Figure approx $250 within the 48 states.

You may keep your existing Edo-Aire governor (114) or Woodward (114A),
or optionally also purchase:

Factory New S-1-55 Propeller Governor... $1,795

All in, this is the least expensive three-blade package of which we are aware,
and the ONLY available new package.

We are close to the annual price bump on the prop, so I won't be able to hold
that price for long.

Thanks,
Jim

Petey,
Did Jim tell you that you can't use the mixture to control power with a 3 paddle? :p

Re: New 3-Blade Prop STC for 114/A

A paddle's a paddle, WOTLOP doesn't care what the fan is.

Re: New 3-Blade Prop STC for 114/A

I have always like the Scimitar Three-Blade Prop and the price is attractive by any measure. What should I expect for performance with my 114, 700 hr IO 540? Climb performance and Cruise economy -50 LOP would be helpful. I am not trying to cost benefit the prop just wondering what performance other 114's may be seeing with the 3 blades.
Thanks

Jim,

Thanks again for the 3-Blade Prop and STC for N4711W. Prop was installed two weeks ago. Still collecting climb, cruise data.

Tony

Tony your mains need airing up

Or ease off the nose. Looks fully extended from pic. Lots of soft field ops? (extra prop clearance)

Re: New 3-Blade Prop STC for 114/A

Just installed the Hartzel Top Prop, from Jim, preforms as great as it looks. Shorter take off roll, much better climb and very smooth in cruise. Will get some real data this week and post.

Re: New 3-Blade Prop STC for 114/A

Ken, old two bladed prop is a Hartzell HC-C2YR-1BF with blade design F8467-7R. It was overhauled in Nov 2008, zero time and has 340 hrs on it now. Has the bulkheads and spinner. I would like to sell it.

Re: New 3-Blade Prop STC for 114/A

Any 3 blade prop recommendations for the 112?

The 3 blade Hartzell is available for any 112 from any Hartzell distributor. Call around for best price and go for it.

Re: New 3-Blade Prop STC for 114/A

Hi John,

I am working with Hartzell to add the F7392 three-blade 112 prop to Aerodyme's offerings and may be able to quote you a good price.

Re: New 3-Blade Prop STC for 114/A

Yes I would be very interested to understand the pricing including any shipping cost to the Chicagoland area.
