Hello all. Proud new owner of a 112TC. Been on these forums for a while and nice to actually put some of the advice to work. It has already been incredibly useful. Especially loved the video posted of Jim doing the gear inspection. Nice to see these aircraft have such a strong following.

A lot of work already completed. Switched the bolts around on the gear as they were backwards like many others, although my bolts too were trimmed and only had a thread showing. Of course new bumpers at the same time. While we didn't get this aircraft for cross country still went with the smaller size tires. As can be seen in pictures quite the difference. Had a pretty good vibration that could be felt in the pedals. Starting out with new mounts and naturally have to add the 3 blade prop to help this issue. Excited to mount it when time allows. Also used the forum discount code for new nav lenses from Great Lakes. Took a bit of trimming but turned out nice.

Now if only the rain would stop out here in Colorado we could put some more hours on it.

Re: New 112TC Owner

Welcome Chris,

Although, it sounds like you've been here for a while! That's great, because you already have lot's of info to start learning and working on your new aircraft... Best of luck as you proceed with this new adventure.

Have a daughter in the Denver area, so will note your info and make contact sometime this summer. Have been to KBJC in my TCA, but will be flying a motorhome this summer. Look forward to meeting you and would be pleased to impart my limited knowledge of the TCs.

Regards,
Alan

PS: Don't leave that new prop near an open door, if I'm around! Need one now. Does your old one still have the Eddy Current AD on it?

Hi Chris,

Welcome to Commander ownership.

Now about this rain in Colorado, You are being a little unfair keeping it all for yourself. I just wish you weatherman would move to South Georgia for a few weeks.

I like your pic of the 3 blade prop, I have never seen one in a box before. It would be a dead giveaway under a Christmas tree. I am sure you will love it.

Life is a barrel of fun.

Ken

Re: New 112TC Owner

Ken, you don't have to go that far for rain, we have plenty to spare in AR, TX, and LA.

Our lake water levels around DFW are up ~7 feet in the past few months.

Re: New 112TC Owner

Welcome Chris to the Commander addiction...112TC is Not a bad choice for Denver. I was in Denver back in August 2014 with a 10,800 DA. My 112TC handled it with ease. 3 adults and some computer equipment on board. Ate the runway up and climbed on out w/an easy 38MP.
I don't have any optional performance enhancements. Still on the 2 blade prop, too. I got some great economy on the trip. I couldn't have done better with my 172. The speed at altitude more than makes up for the extra gallons per hour in fuel consumption. I usually look at it in miles per gallon. Hope you enjoy yours as much as I have mine.

Re: New 112TC Owner

Always love to make new contacts in the area!

You can gladly have the rain. The big box home centers put out pallets of sump pumps and people go after them like vultures.

The 2 bladed on the aircraft wasn't tracking the AD sign offs so not sure as to the status. It only had 200 SMOH during which new blades were put on but that was several years back. Either way ended up getting a deal trading it in for the new 3 bladed.

And first impressions of flying around here are pretty good. Turbo charging is a must around here in my opinion. Summer density altitudes on the field are typically over 9k never mind the Rockies at the end of the runway. Makes for some fun sight seeing with the 172's going around the pattern.

We have a couple other aircraft in the fleet so not sure how much, if any, cross country this bird will get but the fuel burn just makes us smile. And you can't ask for a more comfortable cabin.

Re: New 112TC Owner

Chris,

Congratulations on your new Commander. It looks really nice, and I'm sure you'll enjoy flying it! Lyle Dean (Codeeno on COG) is in the Denver area (Front Range - KFRG) with his "new-to-him" Commander N4742W as well.

Which 3-blade did you purchase?
