I just purchased a 1977 Commander 112 TC-A (N4624W) this month as well! This is my first airplane purchase after being in a flying club for 20 years. Love the plane and looking forward to getting some tips from the group. I am in the Kansas City, MO area. I see Marcos is in St. Louis.

Hi Michael. It’s nice to here there’s finally someone in the KC area. I’m based out of Leavenworth. FLV

Hey Keith! Thanks for the reply. My commander is hangared at KLXT. Do you know anywhere within 50 miles (besides Topeka) where the FBO serves breakfast?

St Joe has a diner, but not sure if they opened back up due to the virus. I normally go to Wichita to Sherman Field 1K1 for lunch. Nice bar & grill 100’ off the runway.

Paola has decent BBQ.

Great! Thanks for the recommendations.

Hello Michael and welcome to the group.
You will find it to be an amazing source of experience and information.
Best, Bill

Michael,

Welcome to the group!

Welcome Michael! I'm at M17 (Bolivar,Mo) just south. I see you are at Lee's Summit. Our airplanes are close sisters! k

Thank you all for the welcome notes. I am catching up on past posts and I can tell this will be a great group. Some of the things that have been shared are already going to help me improve my plane. Looking forward to next year's fly in.

Michael

Congratulations and welcome!

Goodland KS, is a bit of a distance - they had (pre-covid) a great breakfast place on the field. If/when they reopen - I'd be happy to meet up sometime - or some place between Denver and KC.

I will be making a trip to the Little Apple (Manhattan, KS) to see my niece sometime between now and May too.

Enjoy your bird!

Dean

Thank you Dean! Let me know whey you are hading to Manhattan. In the mean time, I will check with Goodland to see if they have reopened their restaurant.

Beautiful airplane! Welcome!!

Let's get together one of these days. I am always up for lunch on the weekends

Welcome to the forum! Who has better BBQ, Kansas City or St Louis? Or is this a lean of peak versus rich of peak question…

Pepe's BBQ in Saint Louis is the king!!!!

I think I just started a holy war ;):p

KC is known for BBQ. St. Louis provides the beer!

I just got this post in another regional pilot group newsletter. We might need to have a Commander midwest get-to-gether... k

I have received information that Tammy's Airport Cafe at Phillip Billard
Airport Topeka KS (KTOP) is adjacent to the taxiway and has really good
food. I haven't been there but as our events slow for the winter months we
might need to try it. Phone: 785-232-3669

Kelly, I’ve been to KTOP numerous times. If I had to pick, Sterman Field 1K1 is hands down a much better place for a get together. And it’s close enough to OK that Scott & Robert could join us. I know they’ve been there before. I’m in for lunch whenever/wherever.
