My Almost-200 knot Commander

Re: My Almost-200 knot Commander

The good side was I returned this evening at about 170 knots. Yeah!

Re: My Almost-200 knot Commander

Ah,... even when you told me I had to work to see them. Old eyes I guess. :-|

Nice to be able to head both ways to take advantage of the breeze!

Re: My Almost-200 knot Commander

This picture is not in the 200 KNOT class, but it is a pretty good TAS. 15K -10C 34"and 2300 RPM. I dont push it that much on the norm, just wanted to see what she would do at those settings. Was a nice calm no wind day. GS was about 195.

Re: My Almost-200 knot Commander

It sure is not what I flight plan for. I was just pushing it one day to see what she would do. I think was 25GPM fuel flow.

Re: My Almost-200 knot Commander

Last night, 7,500 ft, 22.6" (full throttle), 2350 RPM, 40 LOP, 14.8 GPH. Light /moderate snow too!

Re: My Almost-200 knot Commander

Just curious Todd: what was your percentage of horsepower being used at that power setting?

Re: My Almost-200 knot Commander

Lop, 14.8 gph == 220 hp

Re: My Almost-200 knot Commander

65% according to my engine monitor.

Re: My Almost-200 knot Commander

I finally have the opportunity to join the GS club. This is on my flight from Addison, TX to Athens, GA as my fuel stop before turning north to Warrenton. Not bad at 15,500!

That's hauling the mail! Do you recall your power settings and fuel burn at 15.5 Steve?

Re: My Almost-200 knot Commander

The 112TC rules! But I'd sure like the take off and climb performance of the Super Commander. (And sooner or later, someone will get an STC for a turbo of some type.)

OK, I was close to 75% power (or a little more) and as far as the GV, sitting inthe back of anything doesn't count.

Power setting: 35in
Fuel burn: 15.2 gph

I love the low teens for flying East bound, but going West that same friendly wind really isn't that much fun so I always try to stay above the low bumps but below the head winds (so between 6-10K).

Re: My Almost-200 knot Commander

Now if you could get THIS every day! On the way to NY from VA on Friday.
