For the younger members, here's wishing you never receive one of these.
Especially a week away from the COG fly in.

The shear sight of the letterhead will strike the fear of God in to you...

For those unfamiliar, it is not an enforcement action, it's from the Med folks.
Each year, for what seems like forever, I receive one of these and you 'never know' what new hoop they'll have you jump through next.

But in this case - all is well and it was just a confirmation letter with instructions / spec's of the hoops for next year's Class III. The FAA has a year to figure out how they will implement Med Reform, hopefully my special issuance will be included in their path forward.

Even for an old guy, receiving these dang things makes the hair on the back of your neck stand on end. . . .

Re: Look what came in the Mail

John- Yup, with doubtful incorporation of the new Law/ POB2 Med Revisions changes before thus December, I have to submit all the lab reports again too. Usually, things have been pretty stable the past 5 years, but this long long summer, with the oppressive heat I know I've eaten lighter. However, I've definitely consumed much more SB Java Chip Frapps, DD Mocha Coolatas,DQ Moola at as & Magnum Double Chocolate Ice Cream Bars Etc. Not to mention the Raspberry Iced Teas. I can truly blame 'Global Warming', since I clearly am not a Chocoholic. :).

Waiting till end of October to do lab work, so reports for AME will be <90 days. Usually get 3rd class same day from AME, but get the dreaded letter you reference in March, asking for new data . Usually April b4 I get the freaky denial/Special Issuance authorization.

Re: Look what came in the Mail

Even though my medical is due next july 31 2017, my special issuance cam through good until July 2018. So, Since that one year is up about July 15, I should be free from ever doing that again. Looks like my "condition" (having a girlie kidney for 15 years now) will not need any special review.

Yahooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Hey, that girlie kidney seems to be working pretty good! And it likes your green pain scheme, just fine!

Congratulations, and glad to hear they gave you a 2-year SI. (Never heard of that before, but the FAA sometimes surprises me with their ability to be rational about some things, while remaining totally unrational about others!)

Re: Look what came in the Mail

Anytime I get a letter with that return address, it gets my attention, LOL Steve

Re: Look what came in the Mail

Luckily, the only time I have seen one of those was in the early days of EKG by modem... FAA thought they were really advanced to send EKG data over the phone lines, but only took a thunderstorm near OKC or your location to skew the data. Even had the cradle to hold the "old" phone handset! Got to do retest, by modem...

John, glad all is well and the FAA is "ALLOWING" you to fly for another year. After all, who knows your health better than the FEDS. At least you have a letter to take a picture of! You're right though, you don't know until you open it up, if it's denied or requesting more info or hopefully, approved. Until you cipher through it, you still have that lump in your throat.

Especially a week away from the COG fly in.

Could be 15 consecutive years with perfect test results did it? "What the hell, let's give him 2 years this time ...."

What? LOGIC from the FAA? Couldn't be!

Still, glad they did it!
