Here are some ideas for the L.O.C.O.’s to partake in. Of course, they are welcome to join us on the tour of the National Aviation Museum. If that doesn’t suit them, they might be interested in:

Dorothy Lane Market
http://dorothylane.com
From their website:
“Today, Dorothy Lane Market is a company of three well-known gourmet supermarkets, and continues to be locally owned and operated by Calvin and Vera’s descendants. The stores offer all the staples with an emphasis on healthy and specialty foods. The company has been recognized for great food and service in national publications as well, including The Wall Street Journal, Fast Company, and Gourmet Retailer.”

Dayton Art Institute
http://www.daytonartinstitute.org
Currently, they have a special glass exhibit entitled “Dayton Celebrates Glass” with pieces by Chihuly, Littleton, Labino and others.
Even better, this is the weekend for their Oktoberfest which is being held from 9/26-9/28. From their website:
‘Presented by Miller Lite, this community event proudly boasts a dazzling array of artisans, unique foods, ample domestic, international and craft beers, kid-friendly art activities, live music on two stages, international wines and so much more! Oktoberfest includes a fully covered Main Stage viewing area and an expanded Craft Beer tent with big-screen TVs for all the weekend football action. The ACCO Brands FamilyFest provides free art activities for the kids, from noon – 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.”

Aulwood Audubon Center and Farm
http://aullwood.center.audubon.org
They will be holding their Apple Fest on 9/27 & 9/28.

Oregon District

Re: Ladies Activities at Dayton

There is also antiquing available at either Lebanon or Waynesville. Vineyard tour/lunch/dinner in Morrow. Higher end outlet mall shopping 15 min south in Monroe.

Re: Ladies Activities at Dayton

I spoke with Rachel (Owner) at Bellazio's spa and she said they would give a discount to the Commander Owners Group. She asked how many would be at the spa and what kind of service you would like. I could not answer that question. She said they would take walk ins but would prefer a call ahead of time and tell her who to expect.

Bill
Thanks for the additions.

Re: Ladies Activities at Dayton

I am sure that antiquing and shopping and wine will keep Mare happy

Will get at least a little info from LOCO's as they are already planning a group sojourn to the spa. Hopefully your poll will give us some indication of additional interested parties.

Re: Ladies Activities at Dayton

Pat, are you or Betty posting the Bellazio info on the LOCO website? That will get the info from the copilots most quickly.

Re: Ladies Activities at Dayton

Yes it's on their Facebook page

Re: Ladies Activities at Dayton

Betty has shared the information on our Facebook page and Barbara is putting together a group for the spa on Friday. Thanks, Ladies!

If any of the Ladies wish to join us have them call the Bellazio http://www.bellaziosalondayspa.com/ and ask to speak with Rachel. And if they'd like to join our Facebook group we can be found at L.O.C.O's - Ladies of Commander Owners. We just ask that they identify their pilot when they ask to join so that we can confirm membership. Thanks!

Re: Ladies Activities at Dayton

I have been advised from "a reliable source" (who frequently occupies my copilot seat) that the Bellazio manager Rachel has also worked up some packages for the male members of our illustrious group. They offer both male and female massage therapists in addition to other technicians for facials, manicures, pedicures, etc. There is also a luncheon for COG spa visitors scheduled for Friday. Rachel encourages all interested parties to reserve their services as soon as possible to insure adequate staff will be on hand to avoid turning anyone away.

Re: Ladies Activities at Dayton

Another good place is downtown Miamisburg (near airport)
a nice ambiance Wine Cafe woman owner
A Taste Of Wine
90 S. Main St.
Miamisburg, OH 45342
(937) 247-1120
Allows you to enhance wine & cheese by ordering from menus of any restaurants around the downtown Miamisburg. you can eat it in the Wine Cafe open lunch & dinner.
Owner & husband are animal lovers and have rescued horses and cats & dogs.

Downtown Miamisburg is nicely restored to historic looks.
In Downtown Miamisburg, there are many small stores & resturants all in walking distance -
The Antiques Barn, Miamisburg Art Gallery, Suttman's Menswear, Classic Stitch and Great Miami Outfitters. Restaurants however are the main attraction including the original TJ Chumps,[1] Bullwinkles, Chimney's Tavern, A Taste of Wine, Ron's Pizza, Second Street Cafe, Subway, Star City Donuts, and the new Giuliano Anticoli Tavern. The Hamburger Wagon,[2] a famous Miamisburg institution, rests on Market Square. Many other historical buildings are located Downtown, such as the Baum Opera House, Gebhart Tavern, Market Square, and Library Park nearby.

Re: Ladies Activities at Dayton

Is there a chance we will actually have sightings of the elusive Siddiqi at the fly-in? I have been concerned it was becoming an endangered species. ;-)
