KSNH Savannah TN to KSLE Salem OR

Re: KSNH Savannah TN to KSLE Salem OR

Yucca Valley L22 is a good stop in the Palms Springs area. No ramp fees, has a restaurant and the fuel is cheaper. You ,at also want to consider Big Bear City L35 atop Big Bear Mountain, cheapest fuel, great restaurant and hotels nearby.

Harris Ranch is nice for lunch or dinner. I hear the hotel is nice too. Right off Interstate 5 in the Central Valley. Not much to do there other than eat a steak. Oceano L52 is right on the ocean adjacent west of Harris Ranch near San Luis Obispo. You take off or land over the beach. Several restaurants the Mexican being the best in my opinion, a couple of hotels, camping also an option, Fuel and Free bikes to ride. The Pismo beach sand dunes and the beach is a 5 minute walk where there are plenty of activities. I think it is the best airport in California outside Catalina for views etc.

With all these good suggestions, I'll be 2 months getting there... :)

Ill go against the grain and suggest the northern route. Ive done it several times and very scenic. Terrain is a little higher but very doable passes. Spend the night somewhere on the east side of the rockies and leave early and beat the high density altitudes and bumps. Good fuel prices and stops along the way as well.

I've not flown either - but - I have flown KFTG to KWYS (West Yellowstone).

You could make a stop in Denver, then get up early, go to Yellowstone - spend a day or two - then fly on without much terrain concerns between Denver and Yellowstone.
