Is there interest in a European Fly-In.

Re: Is there interest in a European Fly-In.

We'd definitely be up for a fly-in whenever/wherever it is!

Dave T...island life is great so far.. loads and loads of flying courtesy of decent weather (ish) and cheap(er) fuel. Being so close to ASG also has its advantages and of course Col.Perry etc. He often calls with little requests like last week's "Can you pop down and pick me up from Brive (nr Bergerac)?"

Come on over!

John...I'll be really interested to see HPSE once it's all done. I spent many hours in her with the aforementioned Col. Perry

Re: Is there interest in a European Fly-In.

Hopefully it will look as nice as yours Keith.

Jackie and I are quite tempted by Jersey ourselves and spent some time looking round the Island when we were there a few weeks ago. Your a lucky guy Keith.

Mike Perry has been trying to talk me into moving either there or Guernsey ever since I first met him.

Here are some pictures of your Commander at Colton yesterday.

Sorry about the quality, Cameraphone!

Re: Is there interest in a European Fly-In.

Thanks for taking them Lawrence.
Its looking pretty sad isn't it.
Ah well time will tell!

Re: Is there interest in a European Fly-In.

Count me in, providing we get TK back in the air. Cylinders have arrived along with the push rods so shouldn't be long, famous last words :-)

Re: Is there interest in a European Fly-In.

So far the following have expressed an interest in a Fly-in:

John Ferguson
Govind Vekaria
Keith Pearse
David Tubby
Matt Moaby
Biodun Ogunyemi
Mark from the TK Group
and Me.

I spoke to the people at Sywell today and it looks like the new runway won't be up and running until late April, the temporary runways there are a bit short for the 112's, so I would suggest we have a look at another location. Any suggestions?

Re: Is there interest in a European Fly-In.

I have asked a few more owners as well.

Fred Parks N928HW
Grant Harrisson G-DASH
and maybe new owners of G-HILO (Freds old plane)

Re: Is there interest in a European Fly-In.

Other Venue, there's Wellesbourne in the midlands. Or if you want it more South I know the airport manager at Shoreham who I can have a word with.

Re: Is there interest in a European Fly-In.

Welsbourne is good, Shoreham is great for us in the South but we do have some interest from Glasgow and Liverpool, may be a bit of a trip for an informal fly-in, perhaps they would comment.

I've been using Halfpenny Green in Wolverhampton a lot recently, that's a great set of tarmac runways, OK food. How about Coventry. GA friendly ( there's a write-up in this month's Pilot magazine) unbelievable facilities, inexpensive fuel and about 100 yards from the entrance to the GA terminal, a pub/restaurant (The Oak) that does a home cooked two course lunch for £10 for 2 people.

Re: Is there interest in a European Fly-In.

Hello Lawrence

Just picked up on the thread for a flyout to Sywell in the New Year plus I had some info from John Ferguson, I would also like to attend.

Re: Is there interest in a European Fly-In.

Daniel

It will be good to meet with you at a fly-in. We will arrange something after Christmas. Where abouts are you located?

Re: Is there interest in a European Fly-In.

Hi
We are located at LFGB, Est of France close to Basel LFSB.

Daniel

Re: Is there interest in a European Fly-In.

Thanks to everyone who has either replied on the forum or on private messages.

So, lets get this thing organised!

Purpose - Meet & Greet, have lunch and make arrangements for a longer flyout/event in the summer.

Location will depend on those who confirm attendance but most likely in the UK. Now is the time to make your suggestions. I suggest Coventry, if there is a good Northern turnout or White Waltham if it is more Southerly or Shoreham if we have a French/CI contingent. Please respond with your suggestions.

Date: 21st February 2009

I'll look forward to reading your posts.

Re: Is there interest in a European Fly-In.

Sounds like an excellent idea. South Tyrol (you probably might have heared about the most wonderful mountains of this world, called the Dolomites) would be a wonderful place for this happening.

Re: Is there interest in a European Fly-In.

Thanks Hansjoerg

I know it would be a bit of a trip for the Meet & Greet/planning meeting in February but if you can't make it, I'll put South Tyrol on the list of possibilities.

Perhaps we will meet some day.

Re: Is there interest in a European Fly-In.

Bit short on responses on the fly-in date/location, just bringing this one back up the forum list.

Re: Is there interest in a European Fly-In.

This i a great initiative. Winter in Norway calls for summerplanning. Does anyone know where and when the annual "European Commander Fly-In" will take place?
