Re: Hi from Texas
More important is where you will live while you're here. Dallas is big, there are airports all over it.
KADS has no inexpensive fuel, but is the most accessible from multiple north Dallas areas. It depends on whether you don't mind stopping somewhere else for gas.
Love is a good option if you're going to be primarily in the city, it's technically municipal even though two airlines live there so no landing fee and it actually has the cheapest full service fuel around.
If you are going to be in Plano/Allen/Frisco (northeast to north central metro) then there are some private fields like T31 that are worth a look due to cheap space, but they will have no instrument approaches, mind you. Getting out of them is okay, getting back in is tricky if the clouds are below 1500 (which they can be in the spring).
KTKI is a good option if you're going to be living near it. It is accessible from the turnpike that goes to KDFW (about 20 miles away) and is a pretty good full service field, mine lives there. T hangars are 400/month at TKI, one of the smaller/private fields might be a hundred dollars a month cheaper or so.
I know someone looking to rent a house with a hangar attached for 1700/month at T31 if you're interested. The mechanic that takes care of our local Commanders is at T31 as well.
