Good afternoon all --
My name is Nate Holmes, I joined the COG a few days back and have been poking around the forums to try and start learning more from current owners.
I have been interested in Commanders since I started my PPL about 10 years ago. I did my private in Michigan in a Cherokee 140 and Grumman Cheetah. Since then, we moved to SW Florida and completed IFR and Commercial (multi and single) at a local flight school in 172's and a Piper Seminole. Now I am in a flying club at the that has 172's and a 182 based at KFMY.
The flying I usually do takes me around FL (St Pete, the Keys, Orlando, etc.) and to Atlanta (KLZU) to see family every month or so (normally myself, wife and teenage daughter). A 182 makes this trip quite comfortably in 3:30'ish hours. The 172 requires a fuel stop, which isn't always ideal.
We are looking at getting into a 112TC and am joining here to get as much information beforehand. I've seen the numerous posts about getting in touch with Judi Anderson, so I will plan on reaching out to her pretty soon.
If anyone is in within a few hundred miles of FMY and wouldn't mind showing me their Commander, please let me know and I'll come check it out!
I am planning on heading up to Jekyll Island next Saturday to walk around and try and talk to a few folks with their airplanes on the ramp.
Looking forward to learning more!
