Hi all.

Well, it is official now.

Picked up the plane in WA and 17 hours, 5 snow storms, hours of diverting around the Rockies, -25 C temps, 17.5k altitudes on O2 to cross 14k ranges, we finally arrived in KLOU :)

We took a lot of postcard like pics. Flew right beside Mt Rushmore. Flew over the Grand Canyon. By the Tetons.

Long trip and if that didn't get e acclimated to the plane...well I am not sure what would have.

It is a great flying airplane. Solid. Really didn't notice any lack of Rudder command-just that all the controls are a lot heavier than a Piper 180. Which is fine.

Did I say comfortable? Never felt stiff in the plane. Comfortable is an understatement. Loved the seat and room.

Had a nice tail wind at 17.5k and we clocked 204 knots GS. MP was never an issue up there with the Hot Shot.

So...happy to be officially part of the vibe...

I will send some pics soon.

Jason

Jason,

Congrats! Sounds like a great little acclimation flight! LOL - You were able to take full advantage of the HotShot benefits on day 1 - that's wonderful!

Enjoy!

Congrat's Jason,

I'm still waiting to break the 200 g/s mark which will probably take a bit down here in the low lands.

1 Apr you should think about visiting Savannah Tn for Mike's Cook-out. Should be few AC11's on the ramp that day.

Safe flights!

Jason.

The one problem that I had with Sierra Bravo was at altitude. With the oxygen cannulas up my nose, the boom mic and the beard I used to sport, it was very difficult to eat fried chicken.

Other than that a great plane.

Life is a barrel of fun.

I prefer fried liver so...a little easier than fried chicken :)

Thanks Judi.

O2 shot....was going over the Tetons at 17.5k
Middle shot is Mt Rushmore and as close as we could get without going over the TFR
Last shot was part of the Grand Canyon...part that most would not know/recognize given its location.

More pics..

That one shot of the clouds going to the surface was really interesting and in Minnesota.

There were several snow storms on the way back and this is a pic of one of 3 storms that were within 10 miles on several sides. There would be blue skies and then these.

It got really funky from MN down to IN and then KY. We were trying to avoid storms but they were everywhere. We never could file IFR because it would not matter given the icing conditions. We literally flew the entire trip VFR and a testament to my safety pilot and his skill at navigating.

The Stratus that Brian gave me was invaluable for real time flight planning and diversion.

We saw so many beautiful things that we got used to it and just stopped talking about lol...

Fun/long/at times stressful trip for sure.

All good training.
