Monday’s adventure…..

I had great plans to fly on a beautiful day. Well, I never made it out of the hangar. The handle on my tug broke loose, came out of the attachment, and I flew backwards. I did the tuck and roll to protect my right hip (revision 2009). I landed on my left wrist and broke the scaphoid bone,

I called Mary to help pick me up and thank God she was thinking and she called the front desk at the terminal to have one of the guys help me up. I drove myself to urgent care for X-rays then home. My bride picked up lunch and there I sat, ice on. Sometimes it just sucks!

Fast forward to today. It’s been too swollen to cast Monday and Tuesday so I’m going in this afternoon. Let’s hope no surgery otherwise it will be a drive to COG Augusta.

I posted a video yesterday from the airport about fixing the tug and my injuries.

Feel better, Gary!

Dang hope you feel better soon Gary!

Gary...
Fall on the new parts...
Take care of the old parts...
It will keep you from acquiring more new parts..
;)

Ouch! Be careful with scaphoid fractures. if they lose blood flow, it can be very serious... unfortunately, they are also slow to heal due to poor blood supply to the proximal region. If you broke the distal portion, it heals much more quickly.

Get well soon!

I just got back from the orthopedic. It looks like it’s gonna be 8 to 12 weeks no hard cast yet but a sling that I have to wear at all times except in the shower and in bed. No driving and no flying and I have to go back every two weeks to make sure the bone is healing. If not, I will be off for surgery, but we’re not gonna think about that yet.

It looks an 11 hour ground pound to SSI and then 3 hours to Augusta. Can you read the excitement ? 😖

Sorry to hear that, Gary. Hope the healing goes smoothly.

Sorry to hear about your unfortunate incident!
Get well soon!

At least you didn't hurt the plane!;)

In all seriousness, get better, Sir.

I know a one armed pilot. He is a much better pilot than I.

That really sucks Gary and the older we get the longer it takes to heal. Do what the doc’s say and I hope everything works out.

Wow.. so sorry Gary. Rest, and let that all heal, so you can be back up in the air soon!

Wow, condolences Gary. What a shame. Glad you didn’t end up with a concussion or worse.
