Planning a trip for this summer to Greensboro NC. Any airport recommendations for that area? Looking for a nice Inn or B&B in the area for a couple of nights, too.

Re: Greensboro NC

Glenn:

I live next door in Winston-Salem, NC and can recommend both KGSO (Greensboro, Class C) and KINT (Winston-Salem, Class D). There are two FBOs in Greensboro and one in Winston-Salem. There are also some smaller airports around Greensboro, such as Air Harbor (known locally as "Scare Harbor" for runway length and width).

The Triad area is fairly large and you should not have any problems finding suitable accommodations, including B&B's. My wife and I stayed in a very quaint B&B near Pilot Mountain (and near Mt. Airy's KMWK airport).

I am retired and have a flexible schedule, so let me know if you would like to meet and compare Commanders while you are here. I'll even spring for lunch if you are interested. N1462J is located in one of the South T-hangars at Smith Reynolds airport in Winston-Salem, and only about 14 NM from KGSO.

Let me know if you are interested and I will send you my cell number by PM.

Re: Greensboro NC

Thanks Andy. I've sent you a PM and if schedules permit, lunch sounds great.

I've had someone give me a lead on a nice looking B&B in Gibsonville which in looking at the map is about 20 minutes east of GSO. I suppose that could also make BUY an airport option.

I'll look around some more this weekend.
