Let's see if we can get a group going. We used to get as many as 8 or 10 planes. I am going to propose 11:00 AM meet so we can make it late breakfast/early lunch, if someone has another idea, please speakl up. We will try a couple of on-field locations to see if that impacts attendence?

Re: Great Lakes Fly-In Sunday 22nd?

Either is really fine. Haven't hit Port Clinton in awhile. You could also throw Urbana into the mix if that helps increase the participation.

Re: Great Lakes Fly-In Sunday 22nd?

I will be in NY this week end and can not make the fly in.

Re: Great Lakes Fly-In Sunday 22nd?

Anyone thinking of going to the AOPA fly in sessions? Salinas Ca. in May, or Colorado Springs in September?? Any word on the Commander fly in yet....time or place?? Thanks

Re: Great Lakes Fly-In Sunday 22nd?

I'll be at the Salinas event as part of the Angel Flight West contingent.

You did say, "if someone has another idea"...

Re: Great Lakes Fly-In Sunday 22nd?

Guys, looks like if we can all agree on the same spot, we'd have at least 6 planes for Sunday. I am fine with Jackson, it is closest, but have been there at least 50 times, probably more. If these two:

hockeyguygh, mrolih,

would agree on Port Clinton, then we'd have 6:00.

What say you, oh men of CommanderLand?

Re: Great Lakes Fly-In Sunday 22nd?

I'll give port clinton a thumbs up.

Re: Great Lakes Fly-In Sunday 22nd?

How about we meet 10:30 to 11:00 at Port Clinton? I have to depart by 1:00 at the latest that day. This is pretty funny ... 3 reviews the past 3 weekends on trip advistor ... one great, one terrible, another great.

This afternoon we flew into the airport at Port Clinton Ohio in a private plane to have breakfast/lunch at the Tin Goose Diner which is situated at the airport and adjacent to the Liberty Aviation museum. What a delightful experience. This diner has to been seen to be believed. It was crowded even at 1pm but the wait was well worth it. It's a cute and shiney as a button. All the memorabilia in the diner just adds to its charm. Even the old looking 50's replica China is to cool. The white with green stripes China brought back so many memories of my childhood. The food was absolutely to five for. Big portions homemade this and that , everything going by ou table looked so good we wanted to order it all. Great coffee too. The waitresses are very pleasant and they work hard don't kid yourself. It is a busy place because it's so cool and the for is incredible. They say so many things on their menu are the best and they are absolutely correct. It,s worth the flight or drive from anywhere to eat at this restored authentic 1950's diner and the chef deserves a medal. I hope he is payed well because he deserves it. Try it, you will be delighted too!

“It can't be this bad all the time . . .”

Waited 40 minutes to be served a cold breakfast that wasn't as ordered. The high point was they didn't charge me for it. It was clear to me that they were having some ongoing problems.

“Step back in time and have a great diner food.”

If you want to step back into a time when things were simpler and a good meal warmed your soul you found the right spot at the Tin Goose Diner. Located at the Port Clinton airport the diner has WWII era feel with references to the 40's & 50's. They have a large menu with aviation themed dishes and all that I have had are very good. The Chicken salad sandwich is excellent and goes well with their skinny fries. They do have hand dipped milkshakes and their menu covers from dawn to dusk. Prices are reasonable, not cheap but you get your monies worth. The Diner being located at the Aviation Museum just adds that much more flair. If you want some excellent Old Time eats then stop by the Tin Goose Diner.
