Arrive any time , we will be there all day Wednesday and Tuesday after noon..

Grass Grass Grass. Anyone who is at all apprehensive about landing on grass please give me a call. Before I landed at Grand Oaks for the first time I had no idea what to expect. Sure I got my ticket RAF White Waltham that is a Grass field, I well remember my first landing on hard runway, I was scared.
Before my first landing at Grand Oaks I visited several airports with grass strips, both in the Commander and by road. A actually drove down one at 65 mph so I could compare it with driving down my own runway.

The grass and Grand Oaks does not slow me down like I expected, I try not to use the brakes on grass but sometimes have to just a little. I keep the weight off the nose wheel as long as possible.
I would be glad to meet anyone in Dawson (16j) just 6 miles away and fly in with you.

Life is a barrel of fun.

Todd and I joined Ken at his strip a few months ago. Field was in excellent condition and very accommodating with respect to approach path, surface conditions and room to maneuver once on the field. Finding it could be a slight challenge but with the GPS coordinates the smoke plume from the BBQ we should be okay. . .

Todd, need a rain dance for Tuesday. Have a morning hop taking a couple Sheriffs to Warner Robbins AFB to pickup surplus Hummer's . .

Ken,

Thanks for the update. I'm pre-positioned in 20GA outside ATL and look forward to an easy flight down.

Re: Grand oaks (thursday)

I don't think the Lodge allows pets. You should call to confirm with them. If you are only coming to the airport then for one day then I'd say, yes. I had my dog with me in 2005.

I am only going to be able to show up for Ken's cookout on Thursday. I have to return late afternoon. :(

Re: Grand oaks (thursday)

I think he means the 'Grand Oaks' get together, on Thursday, as far as Katie. She looks like a type that would be welcomed in most places. Their main desire is to be close to their owners, as much as possible.

When I've traveled with a pet and they weren't allowed on site, I just boarded them locally. Then one just hooks up again after the festivities are over.

Re: Grand oaks (thursday)

I got an update from Sherman who is already there. He gave me a correction regarding distance/bearing from Dawson (16J). He said it's actually 4 miles on the 111 radial.

Re: Grand oaks (thursday)

Had a great time Ken. You are a great host. Good food, good people, beautiful planes to see, and a great place to meet. Attached is a link of the video I made. Not an editor of video so if anyone wants to take it and clean it up, be my guest. Sorry I could not stay for the entire conference.

Re: Grand oaks (thursday)

Having arrived at Kens Tuesday ( making sure we didn't get stuck in Maryland or Virginia due to weather ), and having PTSD/ EACH (Educational Administration Career Disorder ), Camellia and I felt it important to DOCUMENT the Historic Fly-in Event at Kens Grand Oaks Plantation.
We all know that bringing the Vision of a Landing Strip to Fruition took Years of Dedication and Ken's willingness to share his accomplishment with us was a momentous 'Experience of a Moment in Time'.

In the 'Truth in Advertising' and Political Correctness, Ken Did APPROVED THIS DOCUMENT FOR PUBLICATION. Kelly helped us with fixing the printer jam and 'puter communucations to the printer.

You all need to realize that Ken, Kelly and I measured out the Anticipated Flight Lines Wednesday morning, Nose X every 50 ft and 60 ft between Rows. The parking of tge Commanders was not 'haphazardly' positioned.

Ken did way more than just arrange for the BBQ.

Seems Pics of Document and Cake saved as a PNG, and the Upload won't accept them even though png listed. Can I send someone the images so we can get them posted for members that didn’t participate in the KGOP flyin?
