Mary and I are headed to Charleston for a few days get-away and have decided to make the additional hop south west to Galveston for a few days. I'm looking for any good info on places to eat, stay or must see that you have first hand knowledge of.

Hi Gary,

Moody Gardens is where you want to go in Galveston. No need to rent a car - the airport is right across the street! Great swim-up bar too!

If you get a wild hair, come up and see us in Tyler on your back:-)

Gary - you are great! Probably the only one that I ever heard of that thinks, "while we are in Charleston SC why don't we make a quick stop over to Galveston"! I love that attitude (and time)!

If you are going to make the effort to fly to Galveston, fly a little further to Port Aransas. I think the prettiest beaches in Texas and definitely the least crowded. Airport right near the water too.

On the way out of Texas fly up to Carl's homebase of Rusk County KRFI. Fuel prices of $4.86 gallon and you get to meet up with Carl and a real good Commander AP on the field as well.
