What is the distance that you flew (one way) (in an AC11 or other G A) to attend the 2017 COG Fly-in?

1,086 from lower Alabama.

Re: Ft Collins - Legs

Do we include detours around weather and clouds, or just straight line distance from home airport to FNL? Oh, and how about maneuvering descents to get through scattered layers and get below clouds? That adds a lot of distance too. :)

Re: Ft Collins - Legs

For me, 1445.3 nm according to Voyager flight planning software. That's the great circle distance. Glenn will beat that number.

Re: Ft Collins - Legs

470 nm.

Re: Ft Collins - Legs

571nm. Just landed back in OZW tach is 16.8 different than when I took off. Thanks again to all. Had a great time!!

Re: Ft Collins - Legs

831.5 NM one way direct. Did not go direct had to divert on the way home. It was dicey due to the wx that moved in a few hours ahead of the wx forecast.

Re: Ft Collins - Legs

There is one group missing. The members that flew in commercially. I must admit that I was one.
But I was there and enjoyed seeing everyone.

Re: Ft Collins - Legs

Thought about that Pat,

Quite a commitment to go commercial . . .

Think Gonzalo and Kembly would top that category. (Costa Rica)

Is it just me or are you also waiting for next years location????:)

Re: Ft Collins - Legs

I misunderstood and answered for my leg length.
Now I see it is asking for trip length.

I did 1508 nm (1736 miles) with one fuel stop on the way home.

Radu... can you correct my answer?

Jim

Re: Ft Collins - Legs

Jim, I did the same? I as well only answered for one leg.

Re: Ft Collins - Legs

831.7 for me... as recorded by ForeFlight.

Re: Ft Collins - Legs

Just shy of 1000nm

1,086 from lower Alabama.

Just under 700 miles.

Re: Ft Collins - Legs

I think I may have everyone beat on the past 7 days trip, 2,900 nautical miles / 3,337 miles.

I flew from KGAD (Gadsden, AL) to K88 (Allen Co, Kansas) to KFNL (Fort Collins, CO) then from KFNL to KSAF (Santa Fe, NM) to KSEZ (Sedona, AZ) a total of 3 days on the ground in Sedona, then to 2K4 (Scott Field, Mangum, OK) to KGAD (back Home) more than 2,900 Nautical miles or close to 3,300 Miles. All in 7 days. N295TC did amazing.

Right at 1,300 Nautical miles yesterday from Sedona, AZ to Gadsden, AL in one day with one fuel stop at 2K4 Mangum, OK (fuel was $3.24/gal)

****AFTER all THIS I STILL Didn't GET TO LAND at LEADVILLE, But I tried and as John stated "I was awarded for my efforts"!****

Re: Ft Collins - Legs

That beats me by a bit Todd. I totaled 3,187 out and back.

Re: Ft Collins - Legs

Todd,

You moved the goal posts. I had only posted the total straight line distance from KISP to KFNL. My trip wasn't a straight line, so all in I have you beat.

All this is directly from Garmin Pilot's auto-generated logs:

Sat, Sep 9
KISP (Islip, NY) to KTOL (Toledo, OH); 498 nm; 3.5 hrs
KTOL to KSGS (South St. Paul, MN); 457 nm, 3.2 hrs
The second leg included about 80nm of over-water travel, traversing Lake Michigan (8500 ft initially and then 10500 ft).
Overnighted in Minnesota.

Sun, Sep 10
KSGS to KRAP (Rapid City, SD); 478 nm, 3.7 hrs
Spent three days in South Dakota.

Wed, Sep 13
KRAP to KFNL; 242 nm; 1.7 hrs

Sun, Sep 17
KFNL to KAWM (Ames, IA); 536 nm; 3.7 hrs
KAWM to KYNG (Youngstown, OH); 601 nm; 3.9 hrs
Overnighted in Youngstown

Mon, Sep 18
KYNG to KPOU (Poughkeepsie, NY); 326 nm; 2.4 hrs
KPOU to KISP; 64 nm; 0.5 hrs

All totaled up it's 3202 nm, 3684 statute miles, 22.6 hrs of GPS flying time (tach time would be higher). Every leg was VFR, dodging rain and clouds as necessary. The airplane did get rained on a couple times.

The cherry on top is that the arrival at KISP on Monday afternoon was under a Special VFR clearance. The field was 900 broken, 1400 overcast, 10 miles visibility.

Booyah!
