Re: French Lick 2012 Fly-In Options

Just signed up, planning on arriving Tuesday. I'll start drinking today so I'll have my tolerances built up in a month.... Don't want to let Lonnie drink me under the table.

Since I'm coming in early, sign me up for the golf Radu. Havn't played in about 10 years but it will be comical.... I'll bring a case of balls in case there is lot's of water.

Re: French Lick 2012 Fly-In Options

I've got Jim B and Byrne on the golfer list. Thanks guys.

An FYI for the co-pilots...

Spa Info for French Lick and/or W. Baden Hotels:
Direct number for the spas to schedule for either hotel is 812-936-5819. Look at the web site to decide what you would like to have done and at which hotel. Cost: from $20 and up + taxes + gratuities
www.frenchlick.com/spas

Tea Reservation: W. Baden Hotel.
There are two teas on Saturday (9-15-12) afternoon. First one is from 2-3 p.m., the second from 3-4 p.m. They do have a limit on the amount of people they will serve. Number to call: 812-936-5924 - Beth Wright. Cost: $19 + taxes + gratuities

Advance reservations are recommended for both options. Cocktail hour on Saturday won't begin until after 5:30 so you will have time for either tea.

Anyone in Commander land interested in acting as a Wine Tasting chairperson? No big duties... Just assembling a list of attendees to reserve space w/ the nearby winery and so transportation may be arranged.

Re: French Lick 2012 Fly-In Options

Great news! The Mieschmeister lives!! Glad you will be joining in the fun.

Re: French Lick 2012 Fly-In Options

Thanks BB, looking forward to seeing everyone including Lonnie & Petey!!!:D

SAY,... was checking the registration list and noted a true dearth of our Florida brethren. Whaazup with the FL drivers?? This is a pretty easy hop for you guys/girls. Certainly easier than Boston and NY owners making it to Sedona. Or the CA/AZ folks making it to Jekyll Island. The resorts are at least as nice if not nicer. Let's see some representation!

Re: French Lick 2012 Fly-In Options

Bill,

If I were flying (cracked fin rib) my wife and I would be representing part of the south. Hopefully, there will be many late registrations from the southern drivers. I look forward to seeing many great pictures.

Re: French Lick 2012 Fly-In Options

Who would ever let a grounded plane stop them from coming to a Fly-In!? Southwest went to Sedona (well Phoenix), bet they get somewhere near French Lick too!

Re: French Lick 2012 Fly-In Options

comm'l/ Louisville, KY.

Dan, get to Louisville commercially and you and your bride can still join in the fun. Make some new friends and cultivate some commitments for your desired Charleston fly-in. There is a shuttle or we'll get someone to hop down in their Commander to bring you up. Short flight.

Re: French Lick 2012 Fly-In Options

Where do I search on this forum to view the registration list for the French Lick fly in?

Re: French Lick 2012 Fly-In Options

Indy or Cinci (CVG) are also close and easy. No doubt someone could pick you up there.

Something that apparently should be clarified... The Friday evening cocktail party/reception on the train is NOT one of their standard tourist rides w/ staged robberies, etc. It is being scheduled just for COG and will be held in a very recently fully restored bar car and a few other cars for visiting and enjoying the scenic countryside. The event will last appx 90 min and will be a nice prequel to the dining activities later in the evening. Come see some old friends or meet some new ones! While the Indiana countryside will be scenic for those not acquainted, the mobile party is the focus of the activity. To properly provide for food, we must know about your attendance before the event. We need to know now...

Re: French Lick 2012 Fly-In Options

Lonnie and I will bring our horses and bandanas and pull our own authentic train robbery. I've been looking for a way to finance this gig.

Watching Lonzo chase down the train on the back of a bull will be hysterical...

Mebbe on the back of a Red Bull? Or several...

Birdstrike, do we need to do anything beyond adding the $40pp fee to our fly-in registration?
Lonnie will bring his spurs for sure I'm guessin'!! Come a kay-ai-yippee! :p

Nope that's it. The $40 paid during the registration process shows you are coming. If some have already registered and need to add the reception party, that can still be accomplished online. For those that haven't booked yet, please don't wait until you arrive at the resort as our body count will already have been provided to the train operator for food and railcar space allowances.

Re: French Lick 2012 Fly-In Options

Byrne and Lonnie,
There is record for the books waiting to be broken.
The guy that shod our horses was the last person to rob a bank in Indiana and try a getaway on horseback. That was 50 years ago.
Head lines could be yours.

Re: French Lick 2012 Fly-In Options

In my teens growing up in Southern Indiana, I actually made a nice robbery and got away on horseback, but it was not from a bank, I admit. A farmer's daughter is part of the story, though. Great memories.
