forum access issue

Brian

New member
Atlanta
Sorry to crash this thread, but I have no way of posting other than threads under "New Posts'. The threads in the public forum have not been working for me for several days. I'm in Atlanta, and I also gave the link to someone in OH and the threads in the public forum just hang for them too. Could someone contact an administrator? I would think I wasn't the only one with the problem since it wouldn't work for my friend either in another state. I also contacted a couple of people by email. Thanks for all your help!

Re: forum access issue

I am sure one of the Admin's will check.
I can access it just fine but I am a member.

Re: forum access issue

Brian: happens to me quite a bit as well and still after the migration.

What migration?

We are still on Hoster 2 - Don't think Hoster 3 has come live yet.

Radu??

Radu??
My understanding is this occurred several weeks ago?

Re: forum access issue

Interesting - URL is still hoster2

Re: forum access issue

Nothing has changed with the version of vBulletin yet. And no access issues on the public side I can see.

When issue do occur it's typically related to a user OS/browser situation. Windows with Chrome never seems to have a problem.

If something doesn't seem to be working correctly try another browser if you can and if problems still persist, drop a note to Radu our webmaster and he'll help you figure it out.

Re: forum access issue

I use Google Chrome and have not had problems.

Check your version of your browser along with the other suggestions posted here.

I will send note to Radu to have a look see.

Good Luck.

:(

Re: forum access issue

I could have sworn that something was done several weeks ago.. I saw a significant change in my access i.e. reduction of issues and then it went back to having issues. But maybe I misunderstood

Browsers do not change the experience on my end i.e. no better or worse.

Re: forum access issue

Brian, send me an email with more details on this issue webmaster@commander.org, i.e. what are you trying to do or post and what is it that you cannot do. This is a public forum you have posted on (and opened a new thread), I am trying to understand what the problem is.

Re: forum access issue

Thanks guys. I use Safari on a MacBook Pro and also tried it on Firefox. Didn't work on either. I also gave the link to a friend in OH and it didn't work for them either. So not sure what the problem is.

I'm not a member, so I don't try to access the member forums. This is on the public forums. Click the thread and I eventually get this:

FastCGI Error

The FastCGI Handler was unable to process the request.
Error Details:

The FastCGI process exceeded configured activity timeout
Error Number: 258 (0x80070102).
Error Description: The wait operation timed out.
HTTP Error 500 - Server Error.

Re: forum access issue

This timeout issue should be gone now. It was only affecting the non-members accounts.

Re: forum access issue

And I was about to support Radu's adherence to the new net neutrality rules :)

Re: forum access issue

Public pressure? Nah, it's just a solid suggestion for anyone interested in Commanders. I sold my Commander three years ago, but continue to maintain my COG membership for three reasons:

1) As a "thank you" to the community that supported me during my ownership period...

2) It's a great bunch of folks that I really enjoy spending time with...

3) I still love Commanders, and someday may want to own another one. If I do, I want this group to still be around!

I won't make the COG Fly-In again this year. Last year the timing wasn't good for me, and this year, it's just too far to fly in my 100 mph Citabria 7ECA. (And who wants to ride the aluminum mailing tube to a fly-in?) But someday, when I finish the Bearhawk Patrol, I will fly it to the COG gathering.

Re: forum access issue

Brian, no public pressure intended (but sorry...was inferred). The wealth of information that you can access as a member can dramatically lessen your time to come up to speed and comfort around these airplanes. You get the tip of the iceberg from the public side and a wealth of info provided by many when a member.....

I cannot imagine not joining/searching prior to deciding to purchase or not. It is likely the cheapest tool in the decision process :D
