Any of the FI's that work in that area will be familiar with the Hudson River Corridor and the procedures. You'll either have to go to long island or NJ to find an airport you can rent at. KCDW in NJ might be the closest from manhattan. One of KISP friends can chime in and say for sure.

Re: Flying the big apple!

KCDW would likely be the easiest choice. KFRG is about 30 miles to the east of Manhattan, and KISP is even further out. Any of the flight schools at those airports could make the arrangements.

If it's not too blasphemous, you could also consider a helicopter tour. Those fly out of Manhattan directly.

Re: Flying the big apple!

KHWV is a good option with lots of planes for rentals in the middle of Long Island, Nassau in Farmingdale has rentals too, plenty of FI and looks like it will be on the weekend and you can get a pretty good tour of the area on a weekend with NY short fused and stressed out controllers.
