My brother had a procedure at the Mayo Clinic about 2 weeks ago, new heart valve. I waited a few days, limited visitors early on.
For my flight, the weather was great, a little headwind flying West. The FBO treated me very nice, Signature. Yes they have a few fees, I bought some fuel to offset. They were generous with a car, said no worries on a time limit. I did a few hour visit, then flew back. I flew a little higher, 5500 or so to snag a better tailwind. Going higher offered no great benefit.
Without a plane it would be hard to do the day trip, worked great. The brother is home now, still very light duty, recovering.
One thing that was a little unusual. I had FF on the way to RST, the controller vectored me behind 2 aircraft on practice approaches. This is as opposed to calling field in sight, switching to tower for the sequence. I think there was plenty of room ahead of the traffic. Anyway, once I saw his plan, I slowed down & took in the view of downtown Rochester.
