Excited New Owners of N527GT

Excited New Owners of N527GT

Much ado about nothing... Please note the operative phrase, "borrowed Neal's photo". My own flag paint isn't as nice as Neal's but actually has the "remove before flight" as stipulated in the placards and no one else flies my aircraft unless I am on board. If they steal it and crash, good luck. Dual language placards ain't gonna happen with my N-registered aircraft. ;-)

Welcome aboard and enjoy your new bird.

... and just for the record, that picture was a test install. I too have have had the required placards since the lock was put "into service".

Do you have fire certification for the paint too? :D

Re: Excited New Owners of N527GT

Scott,
Welcome!!

Not to hijack your thread, but with the recent install of an ASPEN the traditional gust lock will not insert from above. Inserting from the bottom is an art I haven’t quite perfected.

So, ASPEN users; what are you using to secure the controls? Anyone want to offer your original lock to Scott?

Possibility, James Cole is parting out 3x 112’s – he “may” have one. 941 724-1041

I had my Aspens flushmounted.. No problems with the guestlock

My plane didn't have a gust lock when I purchased it. Took a 7" piece of wire that was just smaller than the hole, bent it at a 90' angle close to the middle and it works great! I keep my glove box open when it is in use for an added reminder to remove it. So far, no problems

Re: Excited New Owners of N527GT

You can make your own gust lock for next to nothing with some TIG rod that will fit in the hole, a little bending and some sheet aluminum for the "remove before flight" flag. Dirt cheap, works great and you can put your N number on the flag for the custom touch.
