Commander N1462J was featured in a front page picture in the Saturday March 9th Winston-Salem Journal. The story was about the FAA plan to close the control tower on the field (KINT - Class D) because of sequestration. The main issue was the fact that the field has intersecting runways and a large number of corporate jets mixing with piston airplanes.

Well, that's the *good* way to be on the front page with you airplane.... ;)

Hi Andy
Great article and your photo looks good! I trust the sequestration snag is resolved soonest. So far in Canada all of our air traffic infrastructure continues to be solid, but as you now, it is a North American issue.

Best regards,

Pete

To paraphrase a recently departed friend:

"Towers???? We don't need no stinkin' towers!!!!!"

Really! And to top it off, the FAA (or the Administration) plans to close the contract towers first, which cost a fraction of the fully FAA operated towers to run, and not touch their more expensive operations. Just like private businesses when times get tight... Close your most cost effective and efficient plants. ??? An efficiency only a government could love or understand.

Great video and article!!

Re: Commander Makes Front Page of Winston-Salem Journal

I was sorry to hear that the tower was on the chopping block.

I lived in Davie County and got my first taste of flying with Holli Nelson out at Twin Lakes (8A7)

I used to fly Piedmont Airlines out of Smith Reynolds but that was a few years ago.

You have a great looking plane and good work on the video.

Best of luck to you and be safe.

Cris
