CFI with 114 Time

New member
Hi All- I'm a new member, my company has a 114B hangared in Cincinnati Ohio and the good news is, I get to fly it! The bad news is, need a check out from a CFI with 50 hours of 114 time for insurance. I'm having a hard time finding one closer than 500 miles away. I called Judi and she helped me find a great instructor in CT, but couldn't find anyone closer. Logistics will be a challenge, so I'm hoping someone in this group knows a CFI who happens to have 50 hours logged and is a little bit closer to Cincinnati. Looking forward to following this group as I get up and running. Regards Rob - N664H

Bill will fly to you for just Fuel $ and a nominal fee for instruction hours.
As a side note when I inquired about insurance I had added my CFII Tom to the policy.
He only required a 2 hr "checkout".
Bill came down and we went for his (Tom's) ride with me in the backseat then I got up front for another hour or so with Bill.
I then finished my requirement with my instructor.
I liked that idea better than trying to cram 5 hours of instruction into a single day.
No additional expense for Tom to be on the policy since he is the more experienced pilot;)

Bill is the guy we are talking to, he seems great, and the plan is exactly that, I'm adding a high time CFI to the policy as a named pilot so he'll only need a short check ride. We're just wrestling with logistics of getting the CFI to Bill and double checking the local area before finalizing. It seems like BIll is a great choice regardless due to his experience with the plane too. Even if we find a local guy to get the checkride check off, I'd like to get a ride with Bill at some point to learn more about the plane and systems.

Good plan..
Welcome to the club!

What a great deal to work for a company that has a 114B in a hanger that will let you fly it. Wow!

Quick update- Was able to get my favorite CFI up to CT to fly with Bill Thomas in his 114TC. Jeff Schnabel in Cincinnati based at LUK now has an AC11 endorsement in his logbook. We've been putting some hours in 664H and I'm really liking this aircraft. Thanks to this group, Judi and Bill for making it happen so quickly and easily.
