Now here's a thought. This photo was taken at a COG gathering at Harris Ranch in the middle of California in March of '07. I can't recall the names of those in the picture except for me on the right and Neal (I think) on the left. Looking at the photo triggered a thought that we are long due for another West Coast gathering, maybe early this Spring.

If Concord (CCR) is a fit, my pilot's club www.mdpa.org has a newly dedicated clubhouse with ample parking. Fuel can be provided at a significant discount from the son of Joe Bruno, whom some of you really old codgers like me in COG will remember. Mike Bruno runs the Sterling FBO on the field. A BBQ grill is available and anything else that is needed for preparing a luncheon, say chile, hamburgers & hotdogs, with a nice meeting room. The airport can provide transportation to the on-field Crown Plaza hotel for an overnight and perhaps to use the BART system to go into San Francisco. Napa Valley is a rental car away. A program would have to be done by someone else.

Those that are interested let me know direct to my email at

so as to not clog up the COG site and we can form a posse.

If that was from '07 and not 2014 as indicated on the photo, almost looks like Steve Odetto on the left. Carl Lee next to you and possibly Paul Davis between Carl and Steve?? Thought Paul was out east at that time but perhaps not.

Re: CCR-SF Bay Area Spring 2014

not me...

Re: CCR-SF Bay Area Spring 2014

Thought the center mystery person looked a little more "robust" than your usual physique Paul but it was six years ago so I took the shot. ;-)

Re: CCR-SF Bay Area Spring 2014

Another reason I think it is Steve on the left is that they are standing in front of a Commander sporting the very forward mounted NACA intake in the lower cowl. Believe that is Steve's plane.

That IS Steve Odetto (and his plane!!), as well as Carl Lee. The remaining person is a mystery.. it is not Paul though.

Neal

John,

My email to you bounced back, so I am replying through the COG site. Please add me to your list of members that are interested in attending this Fly In, if my schedule and the weather permits.

Best regards,

David

Re: CCR-SF Bay Area Spring 2014

Guy I have a great place for us to have a fly in have a small air private CN64 located just outside of Palm Springs California I own a racetrack here where we could have fun watching races and eating good food and it's a location that I've been working on bringing their races too. I would be honored to host a fly in here and at the end of the day we could fly back to tradition Aviation located ktrm we could arrange some type of banquet or dinner gathering there and one of the large hangers it could be a lot of fun if anyone's interested please let me know.

That's Steve Odetto, Mike Zimmering, Carl Lee, and John Potter. The picture was taken by Vince Giampa.

Vince Giampa, Joe Cavanaugh, Bill Evans, and I, and others have fly-ins every other month, or so. All are welcome, but we do many of them "spur of the moment", so don't always post them on the board. I will try to do a better job of notifying everyone in the future.

Re: CCR-SF Bay Area Spring 2014

The mystery man is identified! Thx Carl.

Re: CCR-SF Bay Area Spring 2014

Sure miss Steve, Virgil, Blaine and Sven at the fly ins.

Correction - not Michael Zimmering - Michael Reznick.

I believe that I have the answer as to interest for having a gathering at CCR. Not much interest. A few expressed interest coming from outside the N. Cal. Area. Virtually none inside SF Bay Area. So let's drop that idea. It is simply too much planning and effort for the kind of response received especially when it is so easy to do what Carl does in PRB. Gather at a airport restaurant on short notice, say a week.

Mickey...count me in sounds like fun
