Re: can you see the Commander?

My guess is above and to the right of the blue aircraft in the second row from the bottom of the picture.

3rd row from the back

7th from the left

Re: can you see the Commander?

Almost looks like one taxing too on the left half in frame

Re: can you see the Commander?

no, my guess on that one is it's a Piper Saratoga or Lance. ..could even be a bigger Piper.

Second from left in second row up from bottom. Dark painted bird to the left of it. Looks a little like Dan's. Also looks like one 7th from left 3rd row up from bottom.

That would be N1089J. AOPA HQ is a 20 min flight for me. Got to see Mike Goulian pull a top gun pass by the tower that day.

Re: can you see the Commander?

I had an interesting experience today, which many of you may be able to relate to.

I flew to a local airport for breakfast and parked my Commander in an area set up for the public to view aircraft on display. (Note: In California, and other states I'm sure, there is a provision for owners of "Historical Aircraft" (defined as 35 yrs old or more) to obtain a waiver of annual property taxes if the aircraft have been placed on public display twelve times during the year).

There I was, enjoying breakfast with friends on the restaurant patio, which faces the aircraft display. There were the typical Pipers, Cessnas, home-builts, war birds, etc., on display.

Now what caught my attention, was a few couples with cameras, who appeared to be enamored with the Commander. They gathered together and posed in front of it while their photos were taken. I watched as they walked among the other aircraft on display, and it appeared that they weren't as suitably impressed as there were no other photos taken.

This of course has been my observation over the years, that the Commander appears to draw attention due to it's unique design and stance among other singles.

Are we fortunate, or what? We own and fly airplanes that are distinguishable among others.

Makes a Commander owner smile :), doesn't it?

Absolutely a one of a kind Vince!

Re: can you see the Commander?

About a year ago I flew into Camarillo (KCMA) with my son, for lunch (Vince, I think I mentioned this event to you). As I was going into the restaurant a gentleman was holding the gate open for me. It turned out to be Harrison Ford. He was with two other friends and they all stopped when they saw the Commander. They checked her out for almost ten minutes and you could tell they were admiring her. Ramp appeal second to none!

Re: can you see the Commander?

Happened to me in Denver. I was parked in an area with a large Corp Jet count and most of the pilots & their passengers stopped by and did a walk around.
I've also flown into some small airports and it draws a crowd at the fuel pumps.
Great Ramp appeal. Aren't we lucky!!
