I guess this means you're not in Arizona right nowWe had a Tanis engine heater installed several years ago but seldom used it since we WERE in a heated hangar. Also, we plan on installing one of their cabin heaters for preheat.
( It’s my understanding that radios strongly dislike the severe temperature changes! )
We invested in a new insulated cowling cover this fall but haven’t had a chance to use it yet, since the plane is undergoing some major maintenance.
( such is life with a 51 year old airplane )
The next purchase will be a GSM switch like Joel uses.
As I write this it’s -5F below zero but any temp under 15F is too cold to enjoy aviating! YMMV!
Ditto, although I don’t bother stuffing towels in the vent window, the cabin gets plenty warm anywayI have a Switcheon to turn stuff off and on with my cell phone. I can turn on/off my engine pre-heater, plus 2 other relays. For cabin preheating, I have a small electric ceramic heater that sits on a ceramic tile and blows on another ceramic tile in the footwells. I have the electrical cord feed through my window vent, which I stuff with towels to keep the warm air in.
