Boeing Buys ForeFlight

Jim, I appreciate your comments and agree. One review is never sufficient. An example, I have used Jeppesen for IFR charts for about 15 years. I have never had an issue updating either my 430 or my iPad. Your experiences are not familiar to me. I have called them a few times to get info on a new download app, but never a bad experience. They have helped me get trip packs for Canada flights with no issues. I hope FlyQ is as good as Foreflight, but I won't change until I need to.

I guess I should have added that I'm a Mac user, and their tools for Mac are somewhat "behind"...

PS - If you want to get a good feel for FlyQ, without installing it and 'wasting' your 30-day free trial, check out their YouTube channel, where they have LOTS of videos showing how to use it. That's what the review author should have done before writing his review...

PPS - I've seen equally "questionable" reviews that were negative towards ForeFlight, FlyQ, Garmin Pilot, and every other EFB known to man. These are large, feature rich, and complex applications that require some "learning time" before you really know what you've got. If you think about it, ANY ONE OF THEM would have seemed like a miracle just a few years ago, so all the negativity about "the product I don't use" is pretty amazing to me.

Hey guys. My name is Joey and I am a Commander 114 owner and an employee of ForeFlight. Boeing has been nothing but supportive and praiseworthy about our company and they love how we do things. I cannot discuss more about the why, but I can say they only want us to continue being the best EFB available. We will continue to grow and listen to what our pilots tell us they want from us. We can’t make everyone happy, but know that most of us are real pilots. From GA to NASA. And we are always just an email away at team@foreflight.com. You can always just ask for me in the email and I’ll be right there to help. Tailwinds.

Welcome aboard.
I am not a foreflight user (i am with your competition) but competition is healthy for the marketplace, So go Foreflight !

Nice commander ..

Hi Joey,

Welcome aboard. Nice looking 114. I use FF every time I fly.

Welcome! I started using Foreflight in the USAF and continue to this day. Only "beef" I've had is that the software updates RAPIDLY make iPads outdated! I just bought an iPad4 (weeks before iPad5 came out!) because my iPad2 just couldn't keep up with the latest Foreflight update (kept crashing!). Please tell me my iPad4 will last a few years!

Well truth is Mike that i fly with a mini 4 and it just huffs and puffs...but you have to think it is 4 generations old. The only mini we don’t support is the mini 1...the rest still work. If you only want current maps, charts, and filing, then your mini 4 will be good for a long time...if you want things like the 3D airport view, georeferenced plates, hazard advisor, and synthetic vision with 360 glance, well those things need processing power. I do not have plans to move away from my mini 4 as the 5 will not fit in my panel as well as the 4 does.

My mini is my backup ADI as well as being used for the cool traffic display when the ADI/Synthetic Vision is in full screen. I use my iPad Air for the geo-referenced approach plates as well as for the map & traffic display...although that 3D traffic display on the ADI is the cats meow!!
