Flew back on Southwest tonight, from visiting Mom in Florida. After landing at ISP, about half the airplane decides to start clapping.

It doesn't happen as often as it used to, and I'm not entirely sure I see a point in the exercise. When I used to fly overseas every year it would happen on every flight, though that was Alitalia and any safe landing with them was reason to applaud.

So, anyway, I'm thinking about getting some recorded clapping to play whenever I land the 114. Maybe it will inspire me.

:D

Re: Applause!

Frank,

You haven't lived 'til you've flown Nigerian Airways. Did it one time!

Re: Applause!

Air China when I lived there 99 to 2003. Tupolevs. Always worth a round !

Re: Applause!

Frank, we need to make a recording of 70s sitcom audience applause and and somehow link it up with the ASI once we land. I will get working on the automation for such.
There will come a day when they start clapping once airborne.

Cheers.

Re: Applause!

Rest assured – EVERY returning contract military deployment flight is met with the same applause.;) Hopefully we’ll get them all back for good in the very near future. I have an Apache driver in Afghan and a King Air driver in Korea both due in late this year . . .

Re: Applause!

I was ready to applaud last week when I landed in Atlanta.

A flight from Manchester UK to Atlanta and Delta really screwed up. I was on a $300.00 round trip using frequent flyer miles, I selected seat 4A just to see if it would work.

Return trip was in seat 4A in "Business Elite" and what a fine trip. Food and service were just fantastic.

First for me was the first missed approach at 1800'msl (800 agl) the excuse being an "unsafe warning light"

A great trip and I have forgiven Delta for their mistake.

Life is a barrel of fun.
